Arrest made in 1991 Akron cold case; woman raped, stabbed and set on fire

Per article, Rachel's car broke down on her way home. The mother of a 3-year-old girl, was sexually assaulted, suffered blunt force trauma, was stabbed multiple times, and was set on fire.

Investigators say she got a flat tire on her way home from a friend's house. Her body was found hours later.

Daniel L. Rees, 57, faces a charge of aggravated murder. Akron police, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Advance DNA worked together on the case.

On 28 July 2023 Daniel Rees, 60, was sentenced to life in prison for the 1991 murder of 23-year-old Rachael Johnson. will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years of his sentence.
