OH OH - Beverly Potts, 10, Cleveland, 24 Aug 1951

He didn't protect her from his older sibling / friend. I believe this was the same person who wanted to confess in 2000 n couldn't. I believe she went perhaps willingly for practice for a show that she thought would be such a grand success that her mother would again rescind punishment for as the end justifying the means ie stage performance.

Potts disappeared from a neighborhood festival at Halloran Park where they were watching a show, ourdoors.
There were no witnesses and there is no trace on what happened to her.
Newspaper clippings show exstensive searches for Beverly, including searching 'Middle Island', checking dust on basement windows, & questioning her mother for upwards of 2 hours at one point to try and gather more info on her former theatrical career in hopes of a lead.
Suggestions were also made to police about, "Special Movie Seats" which included sections in movie houses for children unescorted by adults. The suggestors stated, "Many sex crimes against children had their start in theatres."

Additionally, an anonymous letter, addressed in pencil to Mayor Thomas A. Burke, had been found in a letter box. Signed "unknown", it said the writer had thrown the girl's body into Lake Erie. The detectives thought it may have just been a prank, but it was turned over to fingerprint experts.

Seeing some weird parallels between Beverly and Little Miss X. Little Miss X Doe was found on Halloween 1958 south of Grand Canyon National Park off a dirt road on a hillside/desolate area. Clothing found with her included a short-sleeve white cardigan and plaid capri pants, also nail file case with the indentation of the capital letter "P" written in script, followed by the indentation of a hand printed capital letter "R." Beverly has the "P" with her surname & the "R" with her middle name & nickname "Rosebud". Projected time of death for Little Miss X varies, generally I've seen 9-18 mos, so 1957-58. This is Little Miss X:

And here's Beverly:

1757326747864.webp
1757326806433.webp

Beverly tends to look quite different from image to image. Similarly, Little Miss X seems to have different "looks," and I don't know that this is artist interpretation, it may weirdly be in line with reality to some degree. Some people have a set of features that lends itself to this, jmo.

One problem with the idea of Beverly as Little Miss X is hair color. Beverly is listed as having blonde hair, Little Miss X had brown hair. Beverly's hair was cut fairly short when she was abducted in 1951, I believe. Hair color can naturally change in blondies at such an age, I've seen it happen. Projected Little Miss X wouldn't have been murdered until 1957 at the earliest, that's six years since Beverly was taken. Moreover, if Beverly disappeared in 1951 and theoretically wasn't killed until 1957, someone was almost certainly trying to conceal her identity to the extent possible, and you're looking at six years of hair growth (and in Little Miss X's case, hair dye, her hair was indeed colored). And finally, Beverly's hair must have been an incredibly dark blonde for it to photograph as it does, some would probably label it brown (myself included). This is Little Miss X's hair:

Seeing her hair like this reminds me of the story of how Beverly's mother retained her daughter's long pigtails after Beverly insisted on having it cut short. And I believe that was done shortly before she was taken. Also wondered about height. Little Miss X is 5'3". I know Beverly was tall for 10 at 4'11". But I'm seeing that the projections for adult height are all over the place, it's impossible to accurately predict, just a multitude of factors involved. We don't know what her diet would have been like in the hypothetical abduction period. And there's always a chance I would think Little Miss X was left out there before 1957, time of death is a projection.

I know this is unlikely, it involves a long-term abduction of Beverly. But thinking of the hair and the nail file case. The way Little Miss X had her hair reminded me of Beverly's pigtail story. Maybe if it was Beverly, it would remind her, too. & if she was abducted and traveling, she probably couldn't put her actual initials on that article because the abductor was concealing her identity. But maybe the "P" really was for the last name, Potts, and the R for Rosebud, or her middle name Rose, and this was a way of connecting to her past.

Little Miss X did have clothing found near her, pretty much a full outfit-- but I see no mention of shoes. If I'm not mistaken, there were no shoes for Little Miss X. I see no mention of them anywhere. I imagine scavengers could have taken them, but I find it weird scavengers took both shoes and left what sounds like pretty much an entire outfit aside from that at the site. We know Beverly had the duck feet. Thinking in terms of this abduction theory, maybe the duck feet had resolved themselves to some extent since the time of her disappearance. Even so, her gait may still have been somewhat unusual, and people with an unusual gait, their feet settle differently in their shoes, you can easily spot it looking at the soles if the person's had the shoes for a good period of time. That could explain why the perp took the shoes.

Also, Little Miss X had several fillings and excellent dentals, and I believe Beverly also had several fillings.

Finally, I've always thought Beverly's potential killer was from that event she attended at the park, some connection to that, and that the person traveled. A common way for people to travel across the country at this time was the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, which you could access via Chicago. Cleveland to Chicago would have involved the Nickel Plate Limited that ran between the two cities, it was a night train. Then in Chicago, the traveler took the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe, and that brought the traveler into Santa Fe's Grand Canyon Line. I'm not saying the perp used this route that night; but I think the perp in this theory would have familiarity with multiple train routes, possibly including this one.

Beverly's been missing for decades now, as has Little Miss X. Maybe this idea was already considered, or is fatally flawed in some way, too far-fetched, I don't know. But based on what I'm seeing (?) it's at the least possible. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's likely, but I do wonder about it. It's incredibly weird to me that in all these years, Beverly's body has never been found.
