BEDFORD, Ohio (WJW) – A woman was reported missing and her boyfriend is considered a person of interest after no one was able to reach her on her birthday.

A concerned family member called the Bedford Police Department Tuesday to request a welfare check on Breneisha Lightfoot, according to a press release from the Bedford Police Department.

Lightfoot’s family was concerned after they were not able to reach her and said it was very unusual because Wednesday was Lightfoot’s birthday, the release said.

Lightfoot’s phone was found lying in a person’s yard in Cleveland and it was turned over to police.

According to the release, police checked Lightfoot’s apartment and found evidence that someone may have been seriously injured there.

According to the release, Bedford detectives want to speak to Breneisha’s boyfriend, Michael Roarty-Nugent, as a person of interest.

Both Lightfoot and Nugent have been reported missing.

Bedford police ask that anyone with information about the whereabouts of Lightfoot and/or Nugent contact Bedford Police Detectives at 440-232-3408.

For Breneisha Lightfoot, that opportunity may alter her career path.



At 20 the youngest member of the group, Lightfoot was drawn to the mission by Shakur, who she said is always doing things "for the people."



Lightfoot wanted to set a different example for young black children growing up in the city who experience all sorts of crazy things, like shootings and community violence.



"It's like you never get used to it but it is 'normal,' she said.



Lightfoot also works with elementary-aged children in an afterschool program and wanted to know how to keep them safe.



"I feel better being prepared knowing what to do," she said.



Lightfoot liked the training so much it has inspired her to sign up for a course at Cuyahoga Community College in hopes of becoming an Emergency Medical Technician.

She was found Friday afternoon in the Francis Avenue and East 64th Street area, police said.

Lightfoot was reported missing Tuesday when her family did not hear from her, despite it almost being her birthday, authorities said.

Officers went to her home and found signs of violence, but Lightfoot and her boyfriend, Michael Roarty-Nugent, were not there, police said. Officers said they found Lightfoot’s phone in the yard.

Roarty-Nugent was identified as a suspect and was arrested Friday afternoon, according to police.

Authorities said charges are forthcoming against Roarty-Nugent.

According to Judge Michelle Paris, Nugent admitted to police officers that he had fatally shot Lightfoot, whose body was found in a wooded area in the vicinity of E 64 St. and Francis Ave. on Friday night -- hours after Nugent was arrested and charged with murder.
