I can't beleive the Wheeling, WV cops didn't arrest the husband! They had a video of him putting her lifeless body in the car and their son said that Mommy wouldn't talk to him and she was cold!!! He must've had some connection with the police department for them to "allow him time to turn himself in"! Hmph! Allow himself time to stick a shotgun in his mouth is what they did!

Sure makes you wonder what a person's worth really is. Millions are being spent to find Stacy Peterson, and I hope they find her. If they don't, IMO it is still money that was spent correctly. What's with the Wheeling LE that they won't spend time/money/effor on finding this woman?

We have seen this before, some cases gave a 2 week shut off time and managed to say everything was searched in their county. BS, that could not have happened. And, really it was mostly volunteer efforts. It appears to me some communities don't wish a shadow cast.

It is despicable.

LE in that city are worthless. It's just hard to believe their attitudes. With that video he should have been arrested and charged right away. What more did they need? I would be writing to the Attorney General and anyone else that I could think of. I would be talking to the Chief of Police and then move up the ladder to the next highest official. It just sounds like someone was protecting that killer. Someone in LE. I'm glad that he killed himself. His punishment came a lot sooner then any court could have given it. Burn burn burn. Now I hope someone can find her body. Her poor family having to go through the loss and grief plus getting no cooperation from LE. What a sad thing.

I don't see your sister's name in Doe Network, NAMPN, NamUs, or Charley Project. I suggest that you contact the administrators of those sites, and ask that they create a profile for her case. These sites are the primary "go-to" places for people trying to match up unidentified decedents to missing persons.

My preferred site is Charley Project for anyone who has been missing for over six months. They have a larger listing than Doe Network, and they do a better job of cleaning out their resolved cases than NAMPN does. However, the Charley Project administrator, Meaghan Good currently does not have access to her computer (it is in the repair shop), and she might be slow to list your case right now.

Mr. Edwards, in addition to the suggestions that CarlK made, it might be a good idea to ask the local police to list Kristen as a missing person on their websites. It sounds like she went missing from Martins Ferry, Ohio, which probably means her missing persons case is under the jurisdiction of the Belmont County, Ohio Sheriff's Office.

Some part of her case (missing person and/or homicide) may also belong to the Wheeling Police Department or the Ohio County, West Virginia Sheriff's Office. She may qualify to be listed on the West Virginia State Police missing adults webpage. I don't know if Ohio has a similar one.

One more thing—probably the biggest thing as you have figured out by now is to get the basic information out there. That means

• full name (including any aliases she may have used),
• full physical description plus any unusual physical characteristics like scars, tattoos, birthmarks, previously broken bones, dentals/dental work, health conditions, whether or not she had biological children
• circumstances of disappearance, especially date/time, specific locations, vehicles, reasons for disappearance, any possible places she may have been taken through or left at

Even before getting her listed anywhere like Charley Project that may require an investment of time, you can start a MySpace page for her, or set up a Facebook group that people can join.

She has a similar roundish face, and red hair, and her age is roughly in the ballpark. Her charred remains were found in Kilgore TX in Oct 06 (i.e, less than a month after Kristin disappeared)

No indication in NamUs of her dental characteristics. It would be interesting to know if Kilgore JD is missing her upper right wisdom tooth.

I don't know how she would end up in Texas from Martins Ferry OH, but stranger things have happened.

Thanks for all of the help and suggestions. I will make sure to follow through. The Martins Ferry Police department, (Belmont Ohio), has helped as much as possible through all of this. The WV police, unfortunately has not. As I stated in another thread...they have not even returned a call to my family since this has happened. The FBI could get involved to help us but need the Wheeling WV PD to ask....and they will not. This has definitely been an eye opening experience. You are brought up to believe that the police are there to help and will do anything possible to resolve a missing person\murder case. This is the opposite of what we have experienced...at least with the WV police.

I will try to check into the Texas case. I looked NamUs and see this listed there but there was no reconstruction or dental records listed. I wouldn't be surprised if Kristen ended up there as we believe that friends and possibly family have helped hide her. Jame's best friend was with him the day he killed himself and his friend is the one who told us that we would never find Kristen.

Details of Disappearance
Kristen moved from Wheeling, West Virginia to Martins Ferry, Ohio in late September 2006 to get away from her husband of three years, James, who was controlling and abusive. She took her two young sons and temporarily moved in with a friend at JayCee Manor Apartments.

At 1:00 a.m. on October 1, James came to her the apartment and asked Kristen to return home. The couple argued and Kristen's friend heard her say, "Don't hit me." When her friend woke up, Kristen was gone and so was her cellular phone, but she left her purse, wallet and cigarettes behind.

Surveillance footage subsequently showed James carrying her body out of the apartment and put it in the trunk of his car. James subsequently told a friend he had killed Kristen. James took his own life when he found out about the surveillance video. He left a note saying Kristen's body would never be found. In his dryer, police found a blanket and gloves with briars and burrs stuck to them.

Foul play is suspected in Kristen's case due to the circumstances involved.
