Woman shot on Oak Street 16 weeks pregnant; prognosis '50-50, mom says
Lindzie Wilson is in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital. Her mother, LR, said Saturday she is not just fearing for her daughter’s life: “It’s 50-50. It’s iffy,” but for her granddaughter’s, too. “She was also 16 weeks pregnant. The baby’s healthy, heartbeats, both of (their) heartbeats are good.”

[...]

“She was walking into the house and was ambushed,” she said. “She was shot three times. Once in the shoulder, once in the leg and once in the back of the head.”

Wilson already is a mother to a 3-year-old and 8-year-old. With no leads so far in the case, LR hopes someone on Oak Street saw or heard something.

[...]

“We’re not giving up hope,” Roberts said. “She’s gonna pull through. She’s strong.”

EARLIER REPORT

A woman in her 20s was found lying on her back in a front yard in the 900 block of Oak Street, suffering from gunshot wounds to her head, left shoulder, stomach and left knee.

She is listed in critical condition.

A caller to police dispatch reported hearing what sounded like gunshots just before 10:30 p.m., a police lieutenant said. The victim was found in a yard.

[...]

According to the lieutenant, police have not identified a suspect and no arrest has been made.

Lindzie Wilson, 25, was shot multiple times, including in the head, outside her home on 953 Oak St. on March 1, according to a Springfield police report. She was pregnant at the time of the shooting and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, the report says.

“(She) had been on life support at Miami Valley Hospital due to her being pregnant in order to save the life of her unborn child,” the report says. “On April 21, the baby was delivered and subsequently the victim (Wilson) was taken off of life support at which time she (died) on April 24 at 11:23 a.m.”

An autopsy was performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, according to the report, and it was determined that she had died from trauma caused by being shot in the head. The case was ruled a homicide.

Springfield Police said Wilson was shot walking from her car to her front door on Oak Street in Springfield on March 1.

[...]

"Then we found out she was pregnant, she didn't even know she was pregnant," LR said.

"We kind of made the choice to try to save B," she continued.

Wilson was kept on life support until B could be delivered on April 21 at 24 weeks old. She was then taken off life support, and died three days later on April 24.

Lindzie Wilson who suffered 3 gunshot wounds was kept on life support so doctors could deliver her baby. Lindzie Wilson, 25, remained on life support until the baby's birth. She died just three days later. Wilson was reportedly 16 weeks pregnant when she was shot multiple times, including once in the head, outside her home, police said

Police found Lindzie lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to her head, left shoulder, stomach, and left knee.

Medics took her to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight.

A friend with last name of Young rents a room at Wilson’s home, from her father.

He was there when the shooting happened. He said he didn’t see anything, but heard several gunshots.

“I’d say at least five – five or six,” Young said.

He said he’s known Wilson for years. He called the news of her death, tragic.

“She was a nice girl,” he said. “She never bothered nobody or nothing.”

I met Lindzie's mother a few months ago. Since then I've desperately been trying to get her and her family justice. It's not ok that there is no arrests, no police are really trying. She was a young mom. She was a daughter. HER LIFE MATTERED. Thank you all for helping me try to get justice for her.

“Lindzie didn’t do anything for someone to shoot a pregnant unarmed woman,” she told the Sun News. “It’s ridiculous how much people are cowards and I pray every day that they are caught.

[...]

"Doctors said there was no hope; Lindzie and her unborn child were going to die," the page read. "They told the family she might live 3 days and to say their final goodbye's.

"Miraculously Lindsey and her unborn baby both have strong heartbeats," it continued, "and Lindzie is not brain dead."

[...]

Police say someone shot another pregnant woman in Springfield in April, too. Travis Hypes is accused of shooting his 25-year-old pregnant girlfriend Lindsey Marsh in the head on Saturday and then running to his uncle's house with a stunning confession about the alleged murder.

[...]

Police chief Lee Graf said there's no reason to believe the shootings are connected.

“In a sense of unusual, I think more than anything it's tragic,” he told WHIO7. “... And also I would definitely say ... not connected, neither of these cases is connected to another.”

Great work, @Britney1011! I hope Lindzie's mother is calling detectives regularly and receiving updates on the status of the investigation. I wonder if she might be interested in joining WS and becoming a VI? Something to think about. MOO

I talk to her daily. I will ask but she isn't very good with computers she says so I don't know if she would. But I will definitely ask. I have a Facebook page for her as well. Her mom LR is really struggling currently she just lost her father so grief on top of grief but I'll ask today!!

If anyone does have questions for mom (LR) I can always relay. She needs justice

Baby daddy was out of state verified. He isn't a suspect. Well I mean IF hes involved it wasn't him who physically did it. I wondered if the person/persons maybe were going for him but got her? That's the only way I've pictured him involved. I also wondered if it didn't do with her dad somehow. His story changes a lot. I wonder if he owed a drug dealer money or something.

Well, the problem is that we can't post things here as fact without a link from an approved source (usually MSM or LE) to back it up. The only way to do that is to become a verified insider and you may be able to do that yourself if you are a friend of the family.

Here is some information on the process to become verified: Verification Process for Professional or Insider Posters

I already did that. I did it for the last case I was on that brought me here. I have not heard anything back yet. Will I? How do I know when I'm approved?
