A Cincinnati man sexually assaulted three developmentally disabled boys by currying favor with their families to gain access to them, according to prosecutors.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Michael Toney, 34, for two counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one count of gross sexual imposition.

Prosecutor Melissa Powers said in a news release that Toney bought the boys’ adult family members gifts. That allowed him to gain their trust and access to the children.

Powers said the boys disclosed the abuse and police found video evidence to support their claims.

Powers said she has significant concerns that there are more victims out there.

The link provided also has a copy of the indictment docs but it shed no light on my biggest question, which is, what gifts were given to the victims parents to gain access to these vulnerable minor boys? Like how does that work exactly?

Did he ingratiate himself with parents over time? Help out with an electric bill? How did he even come into contact initially with families that specifically have boys with developmental disabilities? Feels like there is more to this story. I wonder if he worked in a facility or field that would increase his odds of encountering such families.
