Missing child found sleeping in playground overnight Monday; mother, grandmother charged
A grandmother and her daughter are facing charges after their child was found sleeping in the middle of a playground Monday morning.
Staff from Horizon Activities Center on Louden Court learned of a “lump” in the playground at about 7 a.m., which was a sleeping 2-year-old girl. The child was dirty, cold, scared, shaking, hungry and non-verbal with a soiled diaper wearing socks but no shoes.
They tracked down the child’s home and found Sharon Lambert, the child‘s grandmother, with another 2-year-old. Officers then spoke to the mother, Shandra Lambert, who had left the grandmother to babysit the two girls to go out with her boyfriend the night before, and they noticed she was still too intoxicated to speak correctly or stand straight.
Shandra became angry at the CPS workers and tried to stop the investigation, pushing them.
