Chillicothe, Ohio - The body of a female was found this morning in Chillicothe near Brownell Street and Hardin Drive.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday a deceased female was found near a fence line at the end of N. Brownell St. in Chillicothe.

According to the Chillicothe Police Department, there were obvious injuries to the body and the case is under investigation by Chillicothe Police Detectives, the Ross County Coroner’s Office, the Ross County Prosecuting Attorney and crime scene units from Ohio BCI.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Police sources have said they have made an arrest in connection to a body found near a fence line at the end of N. Brownell St. in Chillicothe.

Police sources said authorities have arrested 27-year-old Donnie Cochenour based on a tip they received.

According to Detective Bud Lytle, Cochenour was taken into custody without incident just after 6 p.m.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Police say the woman’s death does not appear to be linked to any other investigations being conducted in the area. That includes the deaths and disappearance of six Ross County women.

But they already know she isn't one of two missing local women, Prosecutor Matt Schmidt said.

The woman's sleeve had been caught on a new fence that surrounds the AEP Substation at the dead end of N. Brownell St. and she was hanging from it.

"It looked like she was trying to climb the fence," Schmidt said.

The chief said when officers arrived, two workers had already cut her down.

I am in Chillicothe court covering the murder of a woman found dangling by her sleeve from a chain link fence near a neighborhood downtown.

Shortly Donnie Cochenour will appear on a felony murder charge.

Hope you're right. I was concerned, too, when I read the workers had taken her body down because physical evidence might have been compromised. Can't blame them though if they thought she might still be alive.

Police arrested Cochenour without incident at about 6:15 p.m., less than 12 hours after police arrived on the scene of the North Brownell Street/Hardin Drive area where the woman's body was found. He was arrested at a home on Three Locks Road after a tip from the community.

The sheriff's office reports that the maroon 1993 Lexus ES300 she was driving was found abandoned about 7:15 a.m. that same morning in the area of Higby and Three Locks roads, where the search-and-rescue team was dispatched Monday morning. The car was out of gas and had a dead battery.
