Apparently she was shot in the chest. I hate to ask this, but I wonder if over heart and if that had meaning to the shooter
I’ve seen it reported that she was shot in the chest and then I’ve also seen torso…doesn’t “torso” cover a larger area and “chest” is a smaller area/more specific? did the bullet enter one of those sections and exit the other? Which would be interesting regarding the angle she was shot from

MOO

Someone here posted M was shot sideways in the chest.

Just thinking about this. The police going to the wrong address. The 911 call that apparently didn't come from them. Could it be that there is something weird about their address (e.g., GPS takes you to another address; easily confused with another address) and the killer meant to go into someone else's house altogether? I know it's not likely. Just a thought.

The press conference didn’t give the public any new information, really, so it’s tempting to be disappointed by it.

However, I didn’t get the impression that the police are struggling to gather evidence or to identify a suspect. I think “we don’t have a suspect” was an outright lie, to not spook the suspect. I think they do have a suspect, and they’re working ‘round the clock to assemble the evidence and plan the arrest.

The police clearly are not asking for the public’s help, nor do they seem concerned that there’s a random murderer the public might be in danger from. I got the impression that the police HAVE a lot of information and knowledge about the Tepe murders but simply can’t share it with the public because it’s premature and it would compromise the case.

Of course, I could be wrong. I can’t really explain why the press conference gave me hope… it’s just a feeling. The police’s job isn’t to keep the public informed about all the details of a case just to satisfy our curiosity, or to confirm or deny internet rumors. Their job is to identify and catch a murderer and document the evidence in a way that can lead to his conviction in court. Withholding information from the public can be a crucial part of that, and/or giving the public partial or even misleading information. It might make it easier for them to apprehend the suspect if he sleeps well at night because he heard the police say on TV that they don’t have a suspect!
BBM:

I think too they just might have a suspect and also an arrest could be imminent..
Maybe that's why the Chief talked today and both she and the Deputy Chief(?) came across as very relaxed?

Perhaps there was also a known conflict behind the scenes where s and m said something like if anything happens to us or if you ever don’t hear from us, it’s probably ….jmo
Yes on the surface the friends and co-workers seemed jumpy and overreactive. But perhaps they were privy to a private back story which caused their concern.

Unlikely that a dentist would have said that to his coworkers. Women are more likely to say something like that to their friends. MOO
There could have been other ways the co-workers and friends learned of possible threats to safety. Or perhaps the safety issue was related to the clinic in some way.

Do we know if the back yard is fence enclosed? Like they could let the dog out back to potty and they accidentally forgot to lock the door? I've done this before with our dog. Also- fence doesn't mean security. I live in Chicago and 2 men hopped our 6' tall fence and broke into our garage. We saw it happen.
OMGosh. You just made me think of something, what if Monique was letting the dog out for a potty, and the perp got in then? I don't believe this is very likely due to the time of 2 am, but I have had to let a dog out for a quick potty after midnight more than once. It was 23F out, IDK, but your comment suddenly made me think of her letting Larry out. To answer the question, yes we know the back yard is enclosed from all of the pictures on the media, and the wedding video shows the arial view. It is closed in, but I haven't seen the height of the fence anywhere.

They owe the public results and a solution when they have it. They owe absolutely zero info to anyone who isn't involved in the case. If there's no danger to the public then the only people that need information is the family.
This is the problem, the public has been wanting some reassurance that there is no danger to the community.

Yes, but that was after the first officer left. I dont know if they were following up on it or if they closed it after ( hope not)
I am not sure he had the right to do any more than he did at the time,
There is confusion about where they were found. ( up or down) If down,, I wondered if the officer didn’t look in all of the windows?? If up , how were they seen? did they have a ladder? Or break in? He mentioned he didnt know if he should break in? So if he did, shouldn’t there be signs of forced entry,? And if he had the code, why say “ I don’t know if I should break in? Or was the door unlocked, who knows ? that’s the problem.
Police announced they were found in an upstairs bedroom.

or maybe they are motion activated and did not record anything because the suspect did not go close enough to their systems? 3-5 a.m. .... maybe not the person in the alley; maybe the person had a car and drove away.
Also, could it be that all of the neighbors cameras were actually working and LE asked them if they decided to speak to the media, then act like they weren’t working. That way while they’re gathering evidence, then whomever is responsible will think that they got away with it. Maybe the video released is of a random person that they’re not really interested in so that the real POI gets comfortable enough to come out of hiding so LE can watch their movements while gathering the last bit of evidence needed for a conviction? MOO

i don’t know why CPD held that presser. they should have just posted it on FB because more people would see it and it wouldn’t waste time…. because that all could have been an email
This is JMO but I think they're trying to draw more attention to the POI video. They're trying to find the person in the video and talk to them.

i like this theory way better than mine!! let’s hope so, it just seems so unfortunate that their reputation doesn’t give me so much hope as the days drag on :-(

I think it was a 2.5 hour round-trip commute. So, 1 hr. 15 min. one way.
That used to be my commute. I quite liked it, it was my "me time".

I am not sure they have ever placed Monique. They did say it happened on the second floor of the residence, but where exactly Monique was has not been released by the police. We know from the 911 call that the caller said Spencer was "laying next to the bed, or off the bed, there's blood". Because the caller said nothing about seeing Monique, I was thinking she was in another room, maybe checked on the babies? IDK, I just think the caller would have said something about seeing them both, seeing Monique if they saw her there in the room. Maybe they were just peeking through the door and didn't go all the way in the room and she was in there, I just don't think it has been released yet.

Yes, if it was locked, it would have been to prevent the kids from getting in. But how it was locked/lockable would be significant. We'll know eventually from official sources.
Is it normal to have bedroom locks in the US?

I think some version of this scenario is a possibility. I know when I would let my previous dog out in the wintertime, I wouldn't join her outside. She knew to come back to the door when she was ready. And most of the time, I didn't lock the door but stayed inside and scrolled my phone or did a few fast chores while I waited.

Unless S and M were elsewhere in the house, fled to their bedroom and locked the door?

I live in a very old house and don’t have locks on my bedroom doors, but probably most of the people I know have them.

Yes. Most modern homes in the US have locks on bedroom doors. We're not talking deadbolts here though. Simple locks on the door knobs that can be easily unlocked with a paper clip or hair pin.

My old house doesn't either, but the cat can't reach the doorknob. Bedroom doors that are modernized from OLD homes do have the little twisty thing in the center of the knob, you know parents yelling through their kids doors, open that door rightttttttttttttt now! It's a normal type of doorknob S and M had, that has a little lock. IMO
