OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

Doing media certainly helped the family's fundraising campaign. He's been promoting it at every opportunity.
That's important for the children's future, and for whoever will be raising them to deal with the financial issues involved in the raising of two young children.

Absolutely baffling as to why now?!?
It was probably a slow build… his resentment grew and grew. He felt wronged by her. He is not mentally well, clearly.

A vascular surgeon, what a way to throw away your life. What was worth that?

Educated individual, surgeon....and now he will be in prison for the rest of his life. Did he not think during that 5 1/2 drive?
He may off himself.

Or why? If I had escaped an abusive ex, no way would I ‘poke the bear” to try and get anything from him. ‘Custody’ of what?

But maybe he has never stopped harassing them…and he filed as part of that harassment.
It's almost like this guy didn't give a fig if he was caught or not! He parks close to the residence and in an area saturated with cameras and LE followed him right back to his car. I'd say this guy's life was on a downhill trajectory and he had nothing to lose.

Kudos to the police dept. and all those LE officers who were involved in nabbing this loser!

Big Picture Summary

This record shows a divorce case with no children that was:

Filed: May 2, 2017
Completed / Closed: June 2017
Status: CLOSED
Outcome: Divorce finalized
There are no ongoing actions in this case.

Key Sections Explained

Case Type
“Divorce – No Children”

Means there were no minor children involved, so no custody, child support, or parenting plans.

Parties
Plaintiff: Monique F. Sabaturski
Defendant: Michael D. McKee

The plaintiff is simply the person who filed first — it does not mean fault.

Attorneys
Both parties are listed as representing themselves at times.

You’ll see entries like “Auto Appear Pro Se” and “Auto Atty Withdrawal” — this means:

An attorney may have been initially involved
Then automatically withdrawn
The parties proceeded without lawyers
This is very common in uncontested divorces.

Here’s the meaningful flow, ignoring repetitive admin entries:

Early May 2017
Case filed
Temporary orders entered (standard mutual restraining order — very normal)
Security deposit/legal aid entries (standard filing mechanics)

June 2017
Referral to private judge
Motions granted
Judgment entry
Divorce decree issued
Notice of final appealable order
👉 This is when the divorce became final.

After Finalization

A few cost bill and clerical/statistical entries
(These are bookkeeping items, not legal disputes.)

Case Closed
Status = CLOSED
No further hearings
No pending motions
No enforcement actions

What This Does NOT Show

❌ No restraining orders between the parties
❌ No domestic violence findings
❌ No custody disputes
❌ No ongoing legal conflict
❌ No appeals

Bottom Line

This was a straightforward, uncontested divorce that:
Moved quickly
Had minimal court involvement
Was finalized cleanly in about 6–7 weeks
Nothing here suggests drama, litigation battles, or unresolved issues.
So what festered over that length of time that led him to do something so horrible now.

Obviously I have missed it, but how did he get in?

Unfortunately, he was a bunny boiler first.

Good god what an awful reveal. Obviously I'm happy the SOB was caught and arrested, but how horrifying to know that this was likely a pointless act of revenge for something that was long in the past.

Where and when can women be safe from their abusers? In another state? In their locked home? At 3am? 8 years after a divorce? Apparently not.

I'm just devastated for those kids. What an absolute monster. Almost any other explanation would make more sense to me than this deep-seated anger that he'd been keeping alive for years.

I hope he gets what he deserves.

Obviously I have missed it, but how did he get in?
Probably tried birthdays anniversaries , wedding dates. The standard ones but I am just guessing. He likely knows all of those numbers.

He didn't even try to use a different vehicle.
It doesn’t matter. If he rented a vehicle, they would have tracked it back to him. If he had Ubered to the neighborhood, they would have still tracked him.

Unbelievable. I was just checking this thread right before the news hit and I thought to myself: 'They are not going to find this person anytime soon'. Very happy that I was wrong...

My suspicion is that dental office employees were aware of issues between the ex husband and the couple.

This explains the prompt response, and the boss’ extreme concern that Monique was not answering her phone.

Absolutely baffling as to why now?!?
If it has something to do with the divorce court record being reopened:

Even if the divorce was finalized, one party may claim the other:
  • Failed to pay spousal support (alimony)
  • Did not comply with property division
  • Hid assets that were later discovered
Courts can reopen or modify cases if one of the parties believes:

  • Assets or debts were concealed
  • Income was intentionally misreported
  • Documents were falsified
Many jurisdictions allow reopening for fraud, even years later, once it’s discovered.
Even without kids:

  • A change in financial circumstances (retirement, disability, job loss)
  • Remarriage or cohabitation of the ex-spouse
  • Discovery that support should have ended earlier
He may be seeking to reduce, end, or recover support payments.

These are very common delayed issues:

Retirement accounts weren’t divided correctly (I have a weird feeling about this one)
  • A QDRO (Qualified Domestic Relations Order) was never entered
  • One spouse retired and benefits triggered division clauses
These often surface years later when benefits become payable.

If the husband believes the ex-spouse:

  • Ignored court orders
  • Refused to transfer property or titles
  • Violated settlement terms
Courts reopen cases to enforce compliance, not to relitigate the divorce.

I hope he didn’t off any patients as a vascular surgeon (over the years).

Many people do know their killers. Tragedy.

I had emergency surgery in Nov. Thank God I trusted the surgeon. If I'd seen that creep's face, I would have fled.

They were divorced in 2017. He completed his surgical residency in 2020…which was prob 3 yrs. So they were Married during med school. He prob went on to a fellowship…which in my child’s case was another 3 years. So he is just starting out but into the big paychecks now.

Was the reopening of this case about money?
