SPRINGFIELD TWP., Clark County — Clark County deputies are investigating the discovery of human remains found in a wooded area near I-70 in Clark County Friday.

Deputies and Springfield police were called around 11:30 a.m. to a wooded area near South Limestone Street and I-70. A 911 caller reported finding a duffle bag that appeared to contain bones.

“I found some human remains. I fished this duffel bag out of bottom of the culvert there and I cut it open with a knife, there’s a human skull in there and a bunch of other bones,” an anonymous caller reported to dispatchers in a non-emergency phone call obtained in a public records request by News Center 7.

Deputies confirmed human remains were recovered during their investigation.

“As of right right now, it appears to be the remains of one person,” Lieutenant Kristopher Schultz, of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, told News Center 7.

Investigators said that they thought the remains were that of an adult.

Schultz said deputies do not know how long the remains had been in the wooded area.

Authorities said it would take a couple of weeks for investigators to confirm the age and gender of the victim, as well as how long the bones had been there.

There was suspicious activity on Sisler's phone records and bank account after his disappearance. In March 2020, his sister, Jodie Carol Thomas, was charged with illegally withdrawing $400 from Sisler's bank account on February 1 and illegally using his public assistance benefits.
