81-year-old man missing from Tuscarawas County

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – An 81-year-old man who suffers from dementia and depression has been reported missing.

According to a press release from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Stephen Myers walked away from his Newcomerstown home on Lick Run Road on August 14 around 9:30 a.m. and has not returned.

Myers is described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 115 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes.

According to the release, Myers has possibly not taken any of his medication since August 18.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone who sees Myers call 911.

SALEM TWP (WJER) (Aug. 30, 2023) – The search for a missing Newcomerstown area man has come to an end.

The remains of 81-year-old Stephen Myers were located late this morning in a wooded area near his home on Lick Run Road. Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell says the outcome is unfortunate but not unexpected.

“This has been what we thought would be the likely outcome but it’s a very thick, rough terrain, and while we’ve had some searches going every day, this was our biggest one. We were able to get a large coordinated search with a good number of people, and it turned out to be what we needed to find him.”
