Just finished watching John Lordan cover Dakota Covington's case on his channel. I didn't see a thread for Dakota on here so I decided to make one for him.

John Lordan interviewed members of the family specifically because there's only one news article about this disappearance that happened almost four years ago now. Namus barely has any information or further details.

I encourage you all to watch this episode in its entirety. Seeing Dakota's sister talk about her missing brother was just so incredibly heartbreaking. I feel for her, and I hope more people become aware of this case.

To summarize some key points made in John Lordan's interview:

Dakota Covington disappeared from Mead, Oklahoma, a very small town of about 120 people. Dakota's father, Scott, was the last person to see him before he left for work. Unfortunately, substance usage and addiction may factor into this disappearance, leading to some main theories:

1) Mead is small but it's near a larger town, so there's always the possibility that Dakota could've hitched a ride or taken a bus to town and come to harm there. Because Mead is such a small town, anyone offering Dakota a ride would've been known to him, so the usual dangers of hitchhiking might not come into play in such a scenario.

2) Sadly, it's possible that Scott harmed his own son as he was the last person to see him, and Scott had expressed violence towards some of his other children, as per the sister interviewed. The sister notes that Scott took a few days to report his son missing (though she noted that LE could've possibly told him to wait 48 hours), and that Scott began referring to his son in the past tense much sooner than might've been expected. Scott has since passed away at his own hand while under arrest.

3) A tip came into family where Woman A went to rent a room in a house owned by Woman B. As they walked past a room in the house, Woman B brags that this is the room her boyfriend shot Dakota Covington in the head, and she watched him bleed to death. The twist is that there is a substance connection between Woman B's boyfriend and Scott. A working theory offered in the episode is that Dakota may have gone to Woman B's house to pay off Scott's debt and was killed there.

The interview ends with potential plans for a vigil on the upcoming fourth anniversary of Dakota's disappearance this April in order to raise awareness and hopefully get some answers.
