OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Oklahoma City Police are investigating after a 14-year-old turned up pregnant with twins, allegedly being used as a surrogate.

A referral from Child Protective Services (CPS) indicated the teen was pregnant with twins, and the father was possibly her mother’s 36-year-old boyfriend.

The mother reportedly told police her daughter “desperately wanted additional siblings” and that “she wanted children with her current boyfriend.” However, she couldn’t because her tubes were tied.

According to the court documents, per KFOR, the mother of the teen refused to allow her boyfriend to impregnate her daughter. However, it is unclear whether she allowed other methods, including surrogacy.

Police obtained a search warrant to collect DNA from the 36-year-old man to determine whether he was the father of the teen’s twins.

The teenager, who is due to give birth this month, was placed in protective custody. A second child was also placed in protective custody, according to the court documents, per KFOR.

SPARKS, Nev. (Gray News) - A woman and her boyfriend in Nevada are now facing charges for allegedly using a 14-year-old as a surrogate, according to multiple reports.

Nathan Potier, 36, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for sexual assault of a child, and Erica Palmer, 36, was arrested for enabling sexual abuse of a child, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to court documents obtained by KFOR, authorities began investigating 36-year-olds Nathan Potier and Erica Palmer after learning that the 14-year-old victim was pregnant with twins. The relationship of the 14-year-old and Potier and Palmer was not specified, but she was placed into foster care after the investigation began.


Palmer allegedly told police that she wanted to have children with Potier but could not because her tubes were tied. Authorities obtained a warrant to test Potier's DNA against the teen's children, but Potier and Palmer allegedly fled the state before a DNA test could be done.

Potier had allegedly previously been accused of sexually abusing the same victim, which Palmer was aware of.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office announced that both Palmer and Potier were arrested on March 17 after learning they were hiding in the area around Reno, Nevada.

Court documents also reference earlier California reports alleging Potier sexµally abused the same teen and that Palmer was aware of those allegations.

The teen is now in foster care, KFOR reported.

Both defendants remained in the Washoe County Detention Facility as of Friday afternoon. Palmer was being held on $200,000 bond and Potier on $300,000 bond, records show.

The two were captured and arrested on outstanding felony warrants in Sparks, Nevada, on March 17 by the United States Marshals Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, per a statement from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

I think it may not have been surrogacy as it usually is, but she is the mother of the twins and her abuser is the father, her female abuser probably used the term surrogacy to hide what the truth was

1. Stepfather had intercourse with the victim - that’s straightforward rape
2. They did some sort of DIY method of artificial insemination - exact laws might vary by jurisdiction but that is still obviously sexual assault
3. A medical professional performed some method of artificial insemination or IVF - I imagine laws would vary here too, but that’s something like medical assault by the doctor and all sorts child abuse for the guardian

There’s no explanation that can be given that isn’t legally assault and morally sexual assault.

Yes it is a whole boatload of buerocracy and also pricey for the medical procedures involved - stimulation, monitoring, egg retrieval from the bio mom, then fertilizing in the lab, growing the embryo to day 5 and simultaneously monitoring the surrogates hormones and uterine lining and support it with meds, then embryo transfer. That costs 30k to 40k per cycle in the USA, and that is without any compensation for the recipient/surrogate. No way they did that.

I guess it was some - probably methed up - baloney excuse to cover up sexual abuse.
