Police said DeShaun Torrez-Smith and Rachel Alexander came to Tulsa from Little Rock, Arkansas, with another family members’ 2- and 3-year-old girls and planned to panhandle and prostitute, KJRH reported.

An initial examination showed that the little girl had been abused.
Torrez-Smith has been charged with neglect and permitting abuse, and Alexander was charged with abuse and neglect.
Toddler Found Dead in Motel Room, 2 Arrested
Officers say the pair panhandled at a Home Depot in Owasso, then returned to the motel they were staying at in Tulsa.
Once they arrived, the couple noticed the 2-year-old was limp, TPD said.

"The woman that's under arrest gave wrong name and date of birth," he said. "She said they were related to the kid, turns out they're not."

They took the kids to Owasso to panhandle around the Home Depot area and claimed to be out there from 4-8 p.m.
Security footage shows the group arriving back at the motel at 8:25 p.m. and when the male removes the 2-year-old from the car she was limp.

The 3-year-old was taken into DHS custody while awaiting Arkansas authorities to receive her.

According to the arrest report, police noticed the child had "loop-patterned injuries" on her bottom and several other injuries on her head and torso.

The two adults charged claimed the children were relatives of one of them. Police now say that was a lie. the unnamed deceased toddler had visible injuries. My Questions: where the children taken i order elicit sympathy better panhandling or for even more nefarious reasons (prostitution)? Who are these children if not relatives and how did these fine upstanding citizens come into physical custody of them? Did they leave the 2 year old in the vehicle (maybe sleeping) while the panhandled and prostituted and the child died from the heat?
I am glad the 3 year old is alive but angry these children were even in this situation to begin with and now a baby is dead.
