Hollis LaVerne Dykes has been missing from Elk City, Oklahoma since June 6th, 1983. The 49-year-old Army veteran hasn’t been heard from since.

Details of the circumstances are sparse. We do know that in 1982 Hollis filed suit against Beckham County Sheriff Dean Smith and Deputy Keith Crum for failing to serve him a divorce summons and as a result he’d been charged with child stealing on December 26th, 1982 when he was with his 6-year-old son James. He was seeking $28,000 in punitive damages. On June 6th, 1983, a ticket for operating a motor vehicle without an inspection sticker was given to Hollis in Beckham County.

Hollis was born in Hammon, Oklahoma on November 9th, 1933. He went on to serve in the Army from 1951 to at least 1955. While stationed in California he was married. Hollis also began a new career in California – horse jockey. He went on to divorce his first wife and married and divorced at least twice more. In 1962 Hollis worked for Exercise Boy Race Tracks in Los Angeles. He later moved back to Oklahoma. Hollis was white with brown hair and blue eyes. He was 5’5 and 165-195 lbs when last seen
