Butler is the son of a prominent local family

I thought this would be the case before reading the article.
Absolutely shameful. How can this be allowed to happen?

Backlash is intensifying in Oklahoma after a teenager accused in a series of violent sex assaults avoided prison time, prompting swarms of people to protest outside a courthouse amid renewed scrutiny of how the justice system handled the case.

sadly I think we shall see this young man again, but not before he has done more damage :(

What a travesty. Reminds me of Brock Turner case. This judge would do well to keep that case in mind IMO

So when he is 19 his slate is completely clean and he doesn't have to register as a sex-offender? Outrageous.

And we will probably be adding more posts in his thread here, an UPDATE in a year or so----Teen arrested for violent assault after being released....

Worse. IMO he will have learned his lesson and won't leave living witnesses. Or will be using a date rape drug that inhibits the formation of memory.

MOO

And people wonder why girls and women are frequently reluctant, or outright refuse, to go the police after being raped or sexually assaulted. Nearly strangled to death and tortured, and all your attacker gets is community service? Absolutely inexcusable. I don’t know how anyone involved in deciding that pathetic excuse for a sentence can sleep at night.

The attorney of a victim in the case of Jesse Butler has filed a motion to enforce the victim’s rights under Marsy’s Law.

Marsy’s Law was passed in 2018 and grants rights to victims, making sure they are protected by law, treated with dignity and notified of proceedings such as parole or sentencing. The attorney is arguing that these rights were not granted to the victim.

The victim is seeking a new hearing and prison time for Butler.
