Two teens are now charged with MURDER in the shooting death of 16-year-old high school girl | Daily Mail Online
Charges have been upgraded against two teens in the shooting death of a high school girl whose death was initially thought to be accidental.
Kaylen Thomas, 16, was killed on October 5 in the McLoud, Oklahoma home of 15-year-old Isabella Irene Sabas, who was initially charged with first-degree manslaughter a month later.
A 17-year-old male was also arrested in November and referred to juvenile court.
Now, prosecutors have named the male teen as Alano Marcelo Silverhorn and upgraded the charges against both he and Sabas to second-degree murder as youthful offenders.
According to prosecutors, Kaylen died in Sabas' home after Sabas fired the weapon and struck her in the head.
The McLoud High School student was treated at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where she later died.
Police Chief Tom Pringle said there were several juveniles in the property when she was killed and a gun was recovered at the scene.
