OK OK - Kendra Nicole Battelo, 24, Enid, 12 July 2022

  • #21
At the time of her disappearance, Battelo was with her boyfriend, Colby Sheppard. There was a pending domestic violence case against him, and she was the victim. The court case was dismissed after Battelo's disappearance because she was not available to testify against Sheppard.

It’s always the same ending for the woman when the scenario starts like this. Moo.

Not sure what could have happened to Colby two years later.

Four arrested after body found in Enid cellar believed to be missing man

Four people are now behind bars facing murder charges after a body was found in an abandoned cellar in Enid last week.

New court documents reveal what police believe led up to the murder.

Enid police believe the body found inside of the cellar belongs to 27 year old Colby Sheppard who they say has been missing since late December.

According to court documents filed on Wednesday, investigators believe Colby Sheppard was lured to his death by Heaven Jordan.

Documents say Jordan lured him to a home in Enid where her father, Charles Jordan, Victor Battelo, and Devin Harris beat Sheppard for 10 to 15 minutes, punching, kicking, and stomping on him, cutting his throat then leaving him for dead.

Investigators believe Victor Battelo was the mastermind of the murder plot, allegedly planning it because he believed Sheppard had something to do with the disappearance of his niece, and Sheppard's ex girlfriend, Kendra Battelo.

Police believe the suspects were trying to get information from Sheppard about the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, Kendra Battelo, who’s been missing since 2022. Battelo’s family says Sheppard was one of the last people they saw her with before she went missing.

Court records obtained by News 4 describe a domestic incident that happened in June 2022 between Battelo and Sheppard.
An affidavit says an Enid Police officer was dispatched to a hotel in town and when they got there Battelo advised them Sheppard had assaulted her. The affidavit says Battelo showed the officer marks and bruises she had on her body, and had multiple bruises around her neck a bruise on her right forearm and swelling on the right side of her head.

News 4 received a statement from Sheppard’s family Thursday who say they are heartbroken and outraged. The entire statement makes allegations against individuals connected to the suspects families that have not been formally charged with a crime so News 4 is only including part of it below:

We are heartbroken and outraged by the tragic loss of Colby….His life brutally taken by Victor Battelo, Charles Jordan, Heaven Jordan, Devin Harris…at a residence in Enid, Oklahoma. They showed no mercy or compassion, leaving him to suffer inconceivable pain….We cannot comprehend the level of cruelty and inhumanity that drove them to commit such a heinous crime. We call upon the justice system to hold them accountable for their actions and ensure that they face the consequences they deserve. We will not rest until justice is served for Colby.

Last updated January 10, 2024; details of disappearance updated.

Details of Disappearance

Kendra disappeared from Enid, Oklahoma in July 2022. She was staying at a residence in the 1400 block of West Randolph, but left at some point. Her mother last heard from her around midnight on July 7, and she was reported missing by her family on July 12.

She may have been sighted on July 20 when someone resembling her knocked on someone's door in Pawnee, Oklahoma and asked for a glass of water. The woman who answered the door reported the sighting to police on July 21 after finding out Kendra was a missing person. She has never been heard from again. was last seen in Enid, Oklahoma on July 5, 2022. She has never been heard from again.

At the time of her disappearance, Kendra was with her boyfriend, Colby Sheppard. There was a pending domestic violence case against him, and she was the victim. The court case was dismissed after Kendra's disappearance because she was not available to testify against Sheppard. A photo of him is posted with this case summary.

In January 2024 he was reported missing. His remains were found in the storm cellar of an Enid home in August, and in September, four suspects were charged with Sheppard's murder: Victor Battelo, Charles Jordan, Devin Harris and Heaven Jordan. Victor is Kendra's uncle. Authorities believe the defendants lured Sheppard to Charles's house in order to confront him about his suspected involvement in Kendra's disappearance.

Victor allegedly told an acquaintance that he had punched, kicked and stomped on Sheppard but that Sheppard kept saying he didn't do anything to Kendra. Victor also allegedly said that he and a friend had slit Sheppard's throat. Charles supposedly told an inmate about the murder and offered the inmate money to help move Sheppard's body. Harris admitted to the police that he stood guard outside Charles's home while Sheppard was being beaten.

The four suspects are awaiting trial. Authorities stated they had no direct evidence connecting Sheppard to Kendra's disappearance.

It's unusual for Kendra to be out of contact with her family or social media for more than several days in a row. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

Enid police say the killing was motivated by suspicions surrounding the 2022 disappearance of Shepherd’s girlfriend, Kendra Battelo, who remains missing.

Authorities said no evidence has ever been found linking Shepherd to Battelo's disappearance, and the case against the men hinges on what investigators believe was a misguided attempt at vigilante justice.

Two of the suspects are expected to face preliminary hearings on Monday. A third is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, where prosecutors say he may enter a plea agreement.

The case has drawn attention in Enid and across northwest Oklahoma, as both the murder investigation and Battelo's unsolved disappearance remain active.
