Cherokee Nation Citizen and Rogers State University graduate Cade Thomas said he will always treasure having his film “Laura” featured in the True Crime Film Fest.

On July 10, 1977, 18-year old Laura Long disappeared. Her new car, a high school graduation present, was found the next day in the parking lot of the Ne-Mar Shopping Center. This is Claremore, Oklahoma's oldest unsolved murder case.

“Laura” is a documentary that centers on the oldest cold case murder in Claremore. Thomas is a local filmmaker and studied his craft at RSU.

“When I learned that it was not only selected but also chosen as the opening film, I was over the moon,” Thomas said. “All I have wanted since beginning this project was for people to learn about Laura’s story and I’m so appreciative that it’s getting this national attention.”

The case of Laura Long began on July 10, 1977 when the 18-year-old disappeared. Her car was found the next day in the Ne-Mar Shopping Center’s parking lot. 10 days later, her body was found. In “Laura,” Thomas goes through the details of the case and interviews several sides of the story including a police officer, Long family members and previous Claremore Progress Editor Pat Reeder.
