For nearly 30 years he relayed the news through his job at the Miami News-Record, but now Mark Rogers has become the news.

"Mark was actually staying at a place called Laris Rescare, it's like a care center in Langley Oklahoma. He was there on a volunteer basis just to try and seek some treatment on what he was dealing with on a personal level," he said.

Officials at the facility discovered he was missing on Dec. 26.

"He was wearing a pair of jeans, a flannel shirt, a black jacket and he could or could not have an OU sock hat on," he said.

As for whether there's any concern he may do harm to himself?

"You know, at this point we're not. I know Mark was dealing with a lot of personal issues but the family doesn't believe that he was, would do something of that nature to himself, so, you know, whatever the family believes and trusts that's what we have to go off," he said.

Assisted Living is the step before long-term care placement in most cases. Knowing his possible medical conditions could narrow down where to look. Assisted living isn't for psychological or psychiatric counseling and treatment.

On Tuesday, the Grand River Dam Authority assisted in the search by sending two boats to comb Grand Lake and Grand River in an attempt to find Rogers. Roger's family has also been assisting investigators.

"We're pressing forward. We've actually entered him into NamUs, which is the National Missing Persons Unidentified System. That's using DNA from a biological link which is his father," said Major Howell.
