Olive Thomas, husband of Jack Pickford, was a silent film movie actress who was vacationing in Paris, France when after a long night of partying she ingested mercury dichloride which used to treat syphilis. She got sick and was taken to a hospital where she died of acute nephritis. Even though the poisoning was ruled accidental there has always been questions about what really happened.
- Olive's marriage to Jack Pickford was controversial itself because at the time the Pickfords were seen as Hollywood royalty while Olive was known as a "good time" girl and not scared of taking risque parts in movies. Jack's mother and sister, Mary Pickford, were against the marriage.
- Olive was sought after by a lot of men but made plenty of enemies in fact many of the Ziegfield Girls that Olive worked with hated her.
- Jack and Olive's marriage was on the rocks in fact the night that Olive drank the poison they had a terrible fight.
- After Olive's death Jack could never get his story straight when questioned by the police.
- How in the world did Olive not realize that she was drinking a medicine with a strong odor instead of taken aspirin? This part is why I suspect foul play.
