"A yellow lab in a green vest sits straight, looking intently downward, waiting for its handler. It found the dead human tissue left for them during an Ontario Provincial Police training exercise and had done its job.

Clifford Samson, who trains the OPP’s human remains detection dogs, took the photo of the lab. The dog, sitting, eyes fixed on their target, is giving a perfect indication to its handler.

Thanks to a new partnership between the OPP and Queen’s University, those indications are becoming more and more clear and confident, Samson said. This is because the OPP’s seven dogs are now able to train on portions of actual human cadavers."
