Thanks for the welcome! It’s unfortunate that LE is possibly slow acting on this. It seems, from the article above, that her friend believes that many locals are involved and others are not wanting to speak up. That could be the reason for the delay. Small town. Plus, the expanse of the area and forests can’t help the search. I hope someone talks. It could be the only way this is solved.

This is my first post and foray into sleuthing, so I’m hoping that I’m following the guidelines (and also don’t make a fool of myself In the process).

I’ve been reading everything I can find about this case, and between what the daughter stated, and also a friend of Deenah’s (who used to live in Prospect, and returned during the investigation) it seems that she fell into a bad crowd of people. The daughter said her mother felt unsafe, and that these people had been stealing from her for months. Her belongings were strewn about, but she had disappeared.

Deenah’s friend and the friend’s daughter (who currently lives in Prospect) describe that people are living at Deenah’s residence, who have no right to be there. This via Facebook. It’s been stated in the news that she possibly has dementia, so it’s likely that they’ve done something to Deenah for her money and house.

I did some background checks on her residence in Prospect. Two people are listed as currently living there, and very oddly, there are no ages, acquaintances, or any other normal bit of information. Fake IDs? Very strange. The next 4 people listed were people who up until recently have lived with her. All had lengthy criminal records including theft, drugs (and even manufacturing drugs) firearm charges, etc. More than a few people know what’s going on it seems.

Also, another woman is recently missing from a nearby area. April Larson is her name.
Welcome and thanks for the 411.

April has a thread here:

Circumstances of Disappearance
Deena Padgett was last seen on or about Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, in the Prospect area. Deenah had been camping near Forest Service Road 64.

Plus Deena is a tiny little thing, sure hope she is found but sadly it doesn’t sound good.

Lengthy article

OCT 23, 2024
Jackson County Search and Rescue Cmdr. Sgt. Shawn Richards, who said search and rescue crews have conducted at least 10 searches for Padgett, said he is hopeful that residents of Prospect will more readily share information with fellow community members than they have with law enforcement.

A handful of community members organized in recent weeks to search wooded areas and Padgett’s daughter, Alabama resident BH, traveled to Oregon to aid in a search last month.

Richards confirmed that Padgett’s boyfriend, who has not been publicly named, reported leaving Padgett at the campsite to go to work. When he returned later that day, she had left the campsite, which the boyfriend presumed was to return to her family on the East Coast.
Did she take the rv with her?

What's up with Prospect, OR?

Prospect is actually a pretty average rural town in Southern Oregon. Thankfully, it looks like April was voluntarily missing. If one peruses the FB page for Prospect, you’ll see what I mean by average. :) However like many rural communities, illegal marijuana growing happens and can lead to bad situations.

Missing people and murders have happened at one time or another in most of the towns in Jackson county in the 40 years we’ve lived here. These aren’t frequent events and are often related to drugs or DV. Some missing people are suicides. Every one of them is a tragedy.

In Deenah’s case, I expect there are some who may know what happened and won’t talk to LE.

Unable to view in UK. What are the key points here?
The family doesn’t think she’s alive. They suspect foul play. They are raising money for a private investigator and for the family to travel from Alabama to search for her remains.

“We are getting a private investigator because key players are starting to get caught up in some lies,” Hancock [Padgett’s daughter] alleged Friday. “Where there is smoke, there is fire.”

Former Prospect resident Marlena Hines told the Rogue Valley Times that she spoke with Padgett before her disappearance and was told Padgett and her boyfriend were camping in the woods to avoid a bad situation on a property where they had been living along Katydid Road.

Hines said she visited the property where Padgett had lived prior to camping.
“Everyone I did talk to, none of their stories make sense or add up,” Hines said. “I was able to get some information, but I also believe we could have gotten more.
"People aren’t talking," she said.

LE has not found the RV in which Padgett is believed to have lived at one time.

I was able to read it once and now I'm locked out, too. But, it said the family doesn't feel as though she's still alive. They said if she was, she would have contacted them long before now. They're trying to raise money to hire a private investigator to try and find out what happened.

I wish we would hear more from the Sheriff's Department.

That is good to know. Thank you for researching and sharing!

To be honest, based on what LE says about her being safe, it sounds like she took the RV and left to stay in Washington. Which is kinda the best result possible in this scenario!
