Ariadna Albarran sent her father to pick up milk at an Oregon market on Monday, Nov. 14.

When Jose Jesus Albarran Guerrero, 46, returned to his Medford home with the milk, intended to make hot chocolate for his grandkids, he was elated, Albarran said in a phone interview with McClatchy News on Nov. 18.
At the market, he met a man who offered him work doing landscaping, according to Albarran.

Albarran Guerrero quickly changed his clothes and walked downtown with a cup of hot chocolate in hand to meet the man at Sacred Heart Catholic Church just before noon, Albarran said.

“After that, nobody saw him,” Albarran said.

The day Albarran Guerrero went missing, Albarran said her mother got a call from him at about 5 p.m.

“‘Hey, where are you? Are you home?’” her mother said on the phone, according to Albarran.

“I’m near Riverside,” he responded before his voice became distorted, and the call dropped.

[...]

Albarran said her father, a grandfather of nine, is the kind of man who would do anything and everything for his family.

Ariadna Albarran said her mother last spoke to Albarran Guerrero Monday evening, but the call was breaking up and then dropped. The family believes his phone battery died. They are now trying to contact the phone carrier for assistance.

Ariadna Albarran said her family is extremely worried since her father experienced a head injury a few months ago and his memory was affected.

[...]

She explained her father typically works odd jobs that he finds either through friends or people out in the public but has never not returned home after a job.

“He does a little bit of everything, mostly its maintenance, housework, yard maintenance,” she said.

Ariadna Albarran said her father is very kind and social and would help anyone who needs it.

The father of five speaks both English and Spanish. Albarran Guerrero is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 175 pounds with hazel and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a green Oregon Ducks sweater, gray hat, blue jeans and brown work boots.

What can you say? Sounds like a nice, hard-working and loving man -- what has happened to him?
Makes my heart sink for him and his family. Hoping LE is on it. Sounds very scary for Mr. Guerrero.
Prayers for him and the ones who love him.

Ugh. I hope Jose didn't meet with another "Richard Beasley" type. Beasley was the Ohio man who advertised for farm help on Craigslist, who then killed the men who answered the ad. Yikes.

(More on Richard Beasley:
"The investigation into the killings began the night of November 6, when a Noble County deputy sheriff responded to a call and came upon a “white, middle-aged man being treated for a gunshot wound to the right arm,” according to Sheriff Stephen S. Hannum of Noble County.

The wounded man – who was identified in the indictment as Scott Davis, 48, from South Carolina – told the law enforcement officer that he had answered an ad on the Craigslist website offering work caring for cattle on a 688-acre property in eastern Ohio.

He met with two males, including Beasley, and drove with them toward Stock Township, Ohio. After being told a road was closed due to a landslide, Davis got out of the car to start walking toward the property, which he was told was nearby.

Davis told the sheriff that, while walking through a heavily wooded area, he turned around “to see a gun pointed at his head. He deflected the gun and ran” – getting shot in the arm while fleeing, the sheriff explained late last year. The victim hid for seven hours in the forest before going to a house and requesting help, Hannum said.

“Davis lived to tell the tale, but as his story got out, more information came forward about other missing persons who had answered similar Craigslist ads,” said DeWine, speaking at Friday’s news conference with Walsh.

The third victim, Kern, was killed one week after Davis’s escape, according to authorities.

The attorney general said that the victims were all “down on their luck” men trying to take advantage of an opportunity to “have a better life.”

“Tragically, it ended in their deaths,” he added."

“Today is my older brother Jose's birthday and it should be special but it does not feel special because we are broken as a family, we also don't want to celebrate because we are morning. We don't know what condition he is in or where is he at," said Ariadna Albarran, Jose Jesus Albarran Guerrero’s daughter.

The police department said it did not have anyone who had time to speak with us regarding the case.

Ariadna Albarran explained the detective working the case told her the agency is still in the process of going through video surveillance from the area where her father was last seen.

She said so far, the agency has not found her father on camera at Sherm's Thunderbird Market.

Ariadna Albarran said the detective informed her the other businesses in the area that have surveillance cameras up were not recording on the day her father was last seen.

The father of five speaks both English and Spanish and is also known to go by the name, Jesse.

Does anyone remember the case about the Hispanic man who told his wife he was going to go buy a truck and he never came back home? I wish I could remember his name. I often wonder what happened, but can't recollect his name to find it :( It was not Gustavo Martinez-Gonzalez - the guy I'm thinking of was younger.

MOO There's so many of those that it makes me think that must be a profitable scam being run over and over. This case might be too old (2017) to be the one you mean, but was it Alberto Arias-Nunez (Houston)? If so, he's still listed on NamUs #68402...

This case really bothers me. Who offered Jose work? Has that person come forward? Why isn't Jose seen on camera at the market? If he had some kind of accident he should have been found by now, right?

Jose, who had a head injury a few months ago which affects his memory, typically works odd jobs.

Mon, Nov 14

Do you mean this one?

This is crazy to me, I live in Medford and have heard zero updates on this, I was curious about if he was ever found and googled today but all the news articles I see are from November. If he was found, and at that arrested, I feel like its crazy that Ive heard nothing.
