SALEM -- A Salem man was charged with murder Tuesday in the death of a 2-year-old boy, the authorities said.
Steven Thomas Salazar, 23, is accused of killing Kayden Manzo-Ritchie, who died last week at a Portland hospital, said Lt. Bill Kohlmeyer of the Salem Police Department.
Paramedics had responded to a Salem apartment after getting a report that a child had a seizure. The boy's mother, Leslie Ritchie, was not home and Kayden was being watched by Salazar.
An autopsy determined that the cause of death was a lack of oxygen to the brain.
