"Philomath, Ore. -- The Benton County Sheriff’s office arrested 20 year old Gustavo David Martinez Aquepuncho on three counts of aggravated murder. Aquepuncho is charged with stabbing his 19 year old girlfriend, Kelsey Baker, and their one year old son to death.

Authorities say police responding to the call found Baker and her son dead inside the home on Evergreen Road. They believe the mother and child died Friday afternoon...."

The comment about how it doesn't happen around there is so true. Philomath is a sleepy town west of Corvallis.

How horrible. :( So many men are killing their families lately. Makes me

Philomath is a lovely spot. We've driven through there a number of times and even went there once to adopt a rescue dog. The women we adopted the dog from couldn't say enough nice things about Philomath. They'd moved up from the Bay Area to get away from crime.

This is so sad. I guess rage and craziness knows no bounds.

Man arrested in Benton County double homicide

Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson expects to file aggravated murder charges in Benton County Circuit Court on Monday, on the grounds that the murder involved more than one victim, and that the victim was under the age of 14.

Interesting comments. One person said,( don't know if it's true,) the suspect is a college student, from Peru on a student visa. Doesn't really have anything to do with the crime, just a piece of back-ground info or rumor.

When I saw the teaser in the paper last night about bodies found I thought for sure it would be some meth-related thing but I was just shocked when I read about this tragedy this morning. Three promising young lives, just wasted.

(Fran, Kimster, and Missizzy the poodle, stop by and say hi next time you are in Corvallis, ladies!)

What a tragic, heart-wrenching story. I wonder if the young man had any history of mental health issues. His age is the prime time for schizophrenia or serious bipolar with psychosis to appear. I also wonder if some sort of escalating or worrisome behavior is what caused Kelsey to want distance.

My heart goes out to all those hurt by this incident. How awful to welcome an exchange student into your home and heart and to have this happen.

Rest in peace, little Theo and Kelsey.

From December 2012:

http://www.gazettetimes.com/news/lo...cle_ee1c8eea-42ff-11e2-baa3-0019bb2963f4.html

Circuit Court Judge Locke Williams decreed that Martinez-Aquepucho would serve two life sentences for the murders and would not be eligible for parole until he has served 50 years in prison. The former Oregon State University student from Peru was 20 years old when he was arrested for the crime.

Martinez-Aquepucho averted the death penalty when he pleaded guilty Sept. 7 to two counts of aggravated murder for slashing the throats of his son, Theo Aquepucho, and the baby’s mother, Kelsey Baker, on April 29, 2011, in a residence they shared outside Philomath.
