Authorities seeking missing Oregon State Hospital patient

Authorities are seeking the public’s help to find a 32-year-old Oregon State Hospital psychiatric patient missing since fleeing the Salem campus on Thursday.

Kelsy E. Mankin ran from state hospital employees around 6:20 p.m. while taking part in a group activity, the Oregon Health Authority announced Friday. He is not considered to be a danger to himself or others, but authorities advise anyone who sees him to not approach.

Oregon State Hospital seeks missing patient

Mankin is not considered to be an imminent danger to himself or others. He is accused of unauthorized departure. The OSP is conducting an investigation to help locate him. Mankin should not be approached.

“He’s not a real danger to anyone,” said Rebeka Gipson-King with the Oregon Health Authority. “Mankin is not in Lincoln City according to any of our leads but there is always a chance,” she said.

Mankin was admitted from Lincoln County to the Salem campus of Oregon State Hospital Oct. 20, 2016. Mankin was found guilty except for insanity on the charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a prison inmate, and supplying contraband.

Patient escapes Oregon State Hospital, police seek help finding him

Residents with information on the whereabouts of Kelsy Evan Mankin, 32, are asked to call Oregon State Police at 800-452-7888, or dial 911.

Mankin is described as a white male, 176 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches. He has brown eyes, black hair, and was last seen wearing a blue jacket and jeans.
