GUILTY OR - Nikayla Powell, 32, murdered in her Portland home, July 2012

An arrest has been made in the murder of a young woman found in her apartment. Nikayla Powell aged 32 had been found murdered and things were stolen including her vehicle and even her dog. The guy even took her Oregon Trail Pass.

Mark Beebout an RSO from out of State had recently been busted for failing to register, but we all know what that means. Jack **** happened over that. Beebout was transient, but reports say he was known to Nikayla.

Beautiful seemingly happy young lady. May she RIP as it's so not fair her life was ended so violently at the hands of a creep who should have been locked up.

On an aside there's another RSO with the same name as this guy only a different middle name, and that guy is deceased. Bummer.

Also Nikayla grew up under a completely different name and had changed it. Laura Troyan.

She may have made a naive decision but she was trying to be a good person and help someone in need, and it cost her her life. I am really shaken up by this, that church is in my neighborhood and this is just too sick. That she died alone and was left for so long before they found her... I just can't.

Mark Beebout, 40, a convicted sex offender is suspected of killing Mayra, and was charged with her murder before they knew Mayra's identity. Beebout is also accused of killing Nikayla Powell on July 4 and has been indicted on six counts of aggravated murder.

Multnomah County Circuit Judge Eric Bergstrom sentenced Beebout, 40, to two consecutive true life prison terms, meaning no possibility of parole, under a plea deal...

Beebout pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated murder.

How did I miss this story?? I don't think this is all he's done. I sure hope his DNA is being circulated out there and maybe some other cases closed. Freaks me out when a perp looks so normal.

It's good to know that there are people out there getting caught for committing these heinous crimes. Thank goodness for the increases in DNA and computer technology.
