GUILTY OR - Steven Derlacki for child pornography, Roseburg, 2010

I am a little disturbed. He gets released on a bail. He was supposed to start his trial last month. However, I have heard nothing and seen nothing more. Is this just another case that has been forgotten about?

K2K--I check every single morning. Nothing yet. This actually isn't unusual. The News Review of Roseburg is a very small paper and doesn't always assign a reporter to each and every hearing. My guess is that there's been several delays. And when they report that a speedy trial is planned, you can almost bet your bottom dollar that that will not happen--unless the perp pleads guilty.

FWIW, I'm watching the Lisa Ford/Michael Marceau cases out of Aloha, OR. They actually made child porn with their children (one is a tremendously disabled teen) and their case is dragging on too. No updates yet. I wouldn't be surprised, at all, if Derlacki's trial takes at least another 6 months to get going. That is unless he decides to roll on someone else, plead guilty and get this thing over with.

Of course, the time issue concerns me. As time drags on, people start forgetting--especially those who live around him. I'm very worried that someone will forget or not know a thing about the case and will let down their guard with Derlacki. Is there a single one of us who honestly believes he hasn't been on a computer since his release?

Trial set for Roseburg teacher accused of having child porn

"....Steven Derlacki, 28, was arrested back in July of 2010, after police found over 500 pictures and videos on his computer of children involved in sexual activity.

Judge George Ambrosini set the trial date for May 24, and they expect the trial to go about two days.

Derlacki was a second grade teacher at Fullerton IV Elementary School at the time of his arrest, but he has since resigned...."

K2K--That's a frightening find. That blog always bothered me a great deal. If I were you, I'd call that in to the detective in charge of the case. I called the Roseburg police about something I found on another local case and they were very helpful.

Derlacki's case is on the top of my check-list. It should be about ready to go to trial. I wonder if he's behaving himself up there in Corvallis.



ETA: I just checked your link and I don't see the post. In fact, the newest one I see is from 2008. Can you point me in the right direction. It's sure interesting that this person bemoans the fact that someone is putting adult content on his blog. Also, I might have already commented about this fact but it sure seems interesting that such a simple little blog with not much on it would have over 41,000 hits on the profile page. Hmmm.

I think we might have that posted upthread. I remember reading that on Urban Dictionary. It's surely possible that this blog is about pot but the 41,000 hits to the profile page and all the info about loading photos concerns me. It could surely be a blog about sharing info about growing pot but I've seen many cannabis forums and blogs which aren't nearly as clandestine.

I still don't see that particular post about Derlacki/Derlaki.

Wow. In doing some research for another teacher and his son, Joachim "Rudy" Hees and Jonathan Hees, caught with child porn, I ran across something strange. How about another blog talking about Juicy Fruit, park rangers and lots of test trials?

I checked out the juicy fruit guy. He posted on the Photo Eye blog in January of 2006 and linked his own blog. On his blog in Feb 2006 (the one you're referring to) he said that someone, somehow was posting adult content. The user name of the juicy fruit poster on the Photo Eye site is the same name of a person who is running a Big Foot website. It's quite comprehensive and looks legit but I'm kind of naive in what to look for. Does this post make sense? Does Big Foot make sense? :crazy:

The fact that the two sites interconnect and both have some link to men (two of them being teachers) charged with child pornography seems very very curious.

As far as Big Foot being legit, I surely don't know. I live in Oregon near several "sightings" but he's as yet to come visit me. The owner of the Juicyfruit blog states that he lives in Richmond, VA but I've yet to find him.....and I've looked.

As an aside, I once reported a well respected fishing forum to the High Tech Crimes unit as something really fishy was going on there. Posters had the ability to maintain private galleries and I noticed that some of the galleries of people who had only posted once or twice had over 100,000 hits on the private photos. Must have been a special catch!! I was told that groups of child porn traders will piggy-back on legitimate sites until they get some heat and then move on.

I find it very strange that those older blogs (from 2005-06) are still hanging out there on cyberspace with such odd double entendres. The fact that so many people have checked out the profile strikes me as odd.

This case has always bothered me. It occurred in a town just 100 miles north of me and involves a primary grade teacher. I have several grandchildren who are in the primary grades. I check for updates each week and just found something interesting. Derlacki was released to his parents' supervision. They live in Corvallis and I've always worried that the good folks of Corvallis won't know what's going on with this guy from Roseburg. We often wonder just what a person released on bail does with their time. I guess Derlacki has been busy at a noble pursuit:

I applaud Mr. Derlacki's work at the ReStore. However, I have to ask a couple of questions. He is not allowed any access to computers. Are there no computers at the ReStore? He's also forbidden from being around children. Were children present at the picnic? I know I'm a worrier but my husband is a contractor and he loves to visit our local ReStore, often with 2-4 young grandchildren in tow. No access whatsoever there either, Mr. Derlacki?

"A former teacher at Fullerton IV Elementary in Roseburg pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon to encouraging child sex abuse. Steven Derlacki, 30, was facing 40 counts, but after reaching a deal with the prosecutor, pleaded guilty to only eight counts of encouraging child sex abuse in the first degree. Under the deal, Derlacki would face five years in prison with three years of post prison supervision. He would also have to register as a sex offender...."

Ok I have to say this. TH's parents live in Roseberg and she just moved back there. They are both teachers and so is she. Wonder if she knows this guy. He really gives me the creeps.

It would be a miracle, but oh how I wish the deal they made with this pedophile might lead back to a breakthrough in the Kyron case!

ETA: He's got so much in common with Sandusky too - good resume, lots of volunteer work, boy's camps, girl's camps, sports, everyone thought he was nice . . . that's how they insinuate themselves into the lives of children.
