Height is off by one inch. He went missing 10 years before our UID was found though.

The rosary is used by some other groups besides Catholics, although it is most commonly associated with them. Churches in the Anglican communion and some Lutheran churches use them, as well as some other groups. While I agree he is most likely Catholic, I wouldn't rule people out on this basis.

I agree that it looks like a freebie rosary, often given out at Easter services or by missionaries.

I don't agree that the ring on a chain is a rosary ring. I only count 9 "beads" around and a rosary ring would have 10 plus a small cross.

Did we ever hear back from the LE? Did they find the case in the records?

Heres the only rule out on NamUs:
Robert Villareal 1961 Michigan

Quite some different between these recons including different chin shape and placement of eyebrows, which just shows how difficult it is to guess at placement of these features when decomp is at play.

Are there any ruleouts other than Mr Villareal? There were some good suggestions on the first page of this thread, I wonder if they were submitted.

This man was found on my birthday (wasn't born in 2001). I hope he is identified soon. I'm going to see if I can find a better age estimate for this man.

I have learned that he has been identified. This is an ongoing homicide investigation so no additional information has been released.
