Five police officers were shot in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday afternoon, three people familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Police were apparently serving a warrant when they were fired upon, the sources said. Three officers from the Northern York Regional Police Department are in grave condition, and another is in critical condition, according to the sources.

  • At least five police officers were shot in North Codorus Township in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, Sept. 17, sources confirmed with NBC10.
  • The shooting occurred shortly after 2 p.m. ET in the area of Haar and Emig roads.
  • According to sources, three of the wounded officers with the Northern York Regional Police Department are in grave condition, a fourth Northern York Regional officer is in critical condition and a York County sheriff's deputy was injured.
  • Sources said police were serving a warrant in the area when a suspect pulled out a gun and fired at them. Sources also said they believe the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
  • A shelter-in-place was put in effect in the area but it was later lifted.
  • Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is headed to the scene.

First thing that came to my mind is how serious of a warrant could it be that so many officers were involved with serving it? The presser is on FOX News and CNN right now
