I post this because I knew Adam, one of 3 kids Ive coached that have been murdered over the years, due to street violence , to this day his case (as well as 1 other) remain unsolved.

A gifted athlete, with aspirations to play football for Oklahoma State University like his Idol Barry Sanders, his life was cut short one night in a baffling case of violence.

On Sept 28 2004, Adam went to a local convenience store to get a cigar, he drove to the store purchased the cigar , but when he was short of change he returned to his car , where he was accosted by an unknown gunman.

With little indication as to why, Adam was shot several times, then ran into the conveience store , though this was beleived to be a robbery, nothing was taken from him, there was nothing to indicate a struggle, it appears that someone walked up and simply opened fire on Adam from close range ,

Adam sustained multiple gun shot wounds includung one fatal one to the chest ,some indicating a more personal motive, the clerk on duty stated the gunman then tried to follow Adam into the store , some speculate to finish him off, others feel the intention may have been to rob the store itself, this was thwarted, however when the staff locked the door .

Adam was well known and liked, theories range, from a personal beef, to gang initiations, to a robbery gone wrong. He was not involved in drugs, a seemingly happy 17 yo.

Adam was a tough kid, being acosted for money wouldve have certainly endeded up in a physical alteracation, though in this case it,s beleived there was none.

Though there were several witnesses, none claimed to see anything in an era where it was tabooo, to speak with police.

His mothers plight to find her sons killer has been unwavering over the years, at one point it took an ominous turn then a relative of Adams started to receive anonymous phne calls advising them to stop looking for Adam'a killer.

The relative returned the calls and found they originated from a payphone outside a chinese take out restaraunt in North Philadelphia. In stead of backing off , in typical Sophia fashion, she went there and posted flyers offering the $10, 000 reward, for info , the calls stopped.

In an odd twist , 9 years later another teen was shot multiple times in the exact same place as Adam, he survived, and although odd, police feel its no more than coincidence.

Ubiñas: Unsolved murders in Philly haunt mothers waiting for justice

Thanks

Philadelphia police are hoping a new website can bring justice in some of the city’s unsolved murders.

Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner Dennis Wilson and Homicide Unit Capt. Jason Smith will unveil PhillyUnsolvedMurders.com at a Thursday afternoon news conference.

The site, which was not yet live as of Thursday morning, is going to serve as a tool for homicide detectives trying to bring some closure for people devastated by losing a loved one, police said.

“While solving these cases will not bring back those whose lives were taken, it may offer victims’ families and friends some sense of resolution,” the department said in a news release.
