Yes, the world has lost another one. Dammit. And those who loved her will never be the same. Who knows what wonderful things this little girl might have done in her lifetime? How many people would have stood in an adoption line for days just to have a chance to adopt, love and raise such a beautiful perfect creation as that one little girl?

Who would throw away a $20.00 bill in the same place as she was found? Oh, my. It's beyond understanding.

Such a beautiful smile Adrionna had ... reminds me of Shirley Temple. I can't understand why someone would harm a child. I hope Adrionna's murderer is identified soon and brought to justice!

Defense attorney claims client can't be placed at scene where Adrionna's body was found. Oh?


"Allegheny County Police homicide detectives testified that a security camera showed the mother's car driving a few blocks from where the body was found on June 14. They also testified that cellphone tower records tracked Adrienne Williams in the area near where the body was found in a Swissvale ravine -- but not along the Parkway East where she claimed she had been driving."

Further evidence of Adrienne Williams' involvement in her daughter's death:

"Police also testified they discovered colorful paper clips next to and underneath the body of the dead toddler and that the clips that matched ones on the backseat of her mother's car. The told the judge that mud found on the mother's shoes matched mud from the scene where the body was found and a stain on her clothing matched her daughter's DNA and the child's last meal." (That last part is especially distressing )

Swissvale police Chief Greg Geppert remembers the awful feeling on the evening of June 14 when a dog walker spotted the body of 3-year-old Adrionna Williams in a ravine.

“Your heart just drops to the floor at that point,” said Geppert, who was one of the first on the scene, even though he was not on duty. “It's a sight you never forget, that's for sure, no matter how hard you try, I guess.

“Something like that, it's a little more difficult, a little harder to do,” he said. “It's difficult, and everybody has their own way of dealing with it.”

Adrionna would have turned 4 on July 12. Her mother, Adrienne Williams, 27, of Wilkinsburg, has been charged with homicide and other offenses related to the death.

Police said a note found in Williams' car appeared to indicate she struggled as a single parent, though family members said they often took care of Adrionna.

Oh dear. If she was struggling as a mom why didn't she reach out for help. I know that can be hard, you don't want to admit that you are struggling, you are scared you will be judged, but surely any embarrassment you feel is better than smothering your poor baby?

Wow! Talk about victim blaming! What did little 3-year-old Adrionna do to MAKE HER OWN MOTHER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT?!!!! Absolutely nothing. Adrionna did NOT deserve what happened to her.

I hope Jarren Crosby turns to God for wisdom. Lots of it.

I can't recall hearing of anyone charged with/convicted of 3rd degree murder before, but according to Wikipedia, it is the same as voluntary manslaughter:

Voluntary manslaughter: (also referred to as third-degree murder), sometimes called a crime of passion murder, is any intentional killing that involves no prior intent to kill, and which was committed under such circumstances that would "cause a reasonable person to become emotionally or mentally disturbed".

There seems to be a very fine line between 2nd and 3rd degree murder. The fact that asphyxiation is an intentional act (does not cause death spontaneously) and that Ms Williams took measures to conceal the crime, I think 2nd degree murder would have been more appropriate. I hope she gets the maximum sentence of 40 years.

Mom who killed daughter gets 40 years in prison

A Pittsburgh-area woman who wrote on Facebook that "Mommy loves you, my angel" after her 3-year-old daughter was found dead in a ravine was sentenced Tuesday to 20 to 40 years behind bars for killing her.

Adriene Williams, 27, of Wilkinsburg, rejected a plea bargain that would have sent her to prison for 15 to 30 years. She was convicted at trial in August of third-degree murder and other charges in the death of her daughter, Adrionna.
