We are about 45 -50 minutes south in Westmoreland County. I did a bunch of research on my classmate's grandfather about 20 years ago or so. He passed away in the early 2000's and he lived at the same place when he passed away as he did in 1985
My classmate was adopted. Her adopted parents ended up getting a divorce when we were maybe in Jr high. She then started getting into trouble an was put into foster care I believe. As we got older I wondered where she ended up, and thought to maybe ask her about her grandfather, but now I really don't think the van was involved.
You never know. A van with a mural of a skier is not common at all.

Vans with murals were much more common back then. The late 70s/early 80s were the golden years for customized vans.

Still....if you see something, say something. You just never know.

My mom was friends with her, and I still live close by. From personal interview from someone who also knew the girl, it's possible that the person involved may be or may be involved with a very well known bar owner nearby. Supposedly, the owners daughters told this person I spoke with that he was cherrie's biological father (conceived through assault), and was involved somehow. The man is very well known to be in biker gangs, and is known to commit different illegal acts. I don't know his name or if he is still alive, but what I do know is he owned/owns a bar called "Runts" in the Butler area. This is the first case i got seriously involved with.

My mother was on the bus that Cherrie got off of the day she went missing. The van seemed to defiantly be following the girl afterwards. Unfortunately my mother is deceased now so I can't get any more information from her, but she was close friends with Cherrie. The van, according to reports, may have been repainted black soon afterwards. Why repaint a van black immediately after that? seems like they didn't want to be identified, if only someone could've gotten the license plate...

I don't believe this was a random kidnapping. Why her? of all the kids. I also agree that the van was used as distraction. I also believe the family knows more than what is being said..

I think this is again a distraction from the truth. It seems there are so many theories created to sway guilt away from the actually guilty person. I believe the family knows more, whether they were directly involved or not

What makes you think that? Do you think that maybe another family member or a friend was involved?

There have been multiple stories of Leroy's involvement in drugs as well as Janice. I know one theory is she was sold for drug debt. I have read and tried to fact check that both parents were actually at a bar when Cherrie was due to arrive home. Another thing I read is she was playing kidnap with her dolls- her grandmother reported this to a newspaper. There are conflicting stories from people on the bus and the mother waiting behind the bus. Did she really disappear or did she make it home then disappear. There were no footprints in the snow. None of this adds up. Why would a random stranger pick Cherrie. Either way I think the parents know more than what they are saying. Over the years critical tips and tipsters have been dismissed without any further investigation. Why? Also, the woman that came forward and claimed to be Cherrie were quickly dismissed by the police and Janice. One woman really looked like Cherrie and because she is homeless and lives with mental health concerns- she was labeled as unreliable- everyone says DNA can prove it. Well, the police tried to find this woman and couldn't, but having worked in that field, this is not uncommon due to trauma and trust issues. The most recent dig was delayed because it was fall... c'mon - I think a lot of people have been paid off or threatened to be quiet. Sadly, I don't think we will ever know what really happened to Cherrie and if she is alive or not- when she is the only one that deserves justice.
