Father in custody after infant stabbed in Coatesville, officials say

Police say an investigation is underway after an infant was stabbed at a home in Coatesville, in Chester County, on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, police said, officers took the child’s father, 44-year-old Michael Phillips, into custody for stabbing his 3-month-old child in the abdomen.

An investigation revealed that after stabbing his child, Phillips then took the infant outside and threw him in the snow.

The child is in serious condition and was flown to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to undergo surgery, according to police.

Chester Co. infant out of surgery after alleged stabbing by father

A Chester County father is in custody and an infant is fighting for its life after police say the man stabbed his own child.

As of 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Chester County District Attorney's Office says that the child is out of surgery and in critical, but stable condition.

Beyond horrific. I cannot fathom how the mother/his partner and the other children in the house must feel. Let alone that sweet innocent baby. At 3 months old, they’re just little love sponges thirsty for security and affection. Ugh. Please let them pull through this.

And to the neighbors comment: I certainly hope stabbing a new born baby is out of character for him. It makes me sick just typing that out.
