Update:

Police: Townville woman identified as homicide victim

"FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP — State police released the name of the 21-year-old Townville woman whose body was discovered in southern Crawford County early Sunday.

Destine Renee Conyers was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound, according to an update posted by Pennsylvania State Police on Monday.

Conyers was found just off the roadway by a driver traveling on Mule Street, located about 4 miles southwest of Cochranton."

Meadville man headed to trial for alleged 2020 homicide

Ragene J. Gilbert, 26, was ordered held for trial on homicide and firearms charges following a more than three-hour preliminary hearing Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Amy Nicols. The Meadville Tribune was the only media in attendance at the hearing.

Gilbert is scheduled to go on trial during the May term of county criminal court.

A Meadville man will serve 17½ to 35 years in prison after admitting he murdered his former girlfriend nearly two years ago.

A Meadville man will serve 17½ to 35 years in prison after admitting he murdered his former girlfriend nearly two years ago.

Ragene Gilbert, 26, was given the sentence Thursday by Crawford County Court of Common Pleas President Judge John Spataro for killing Destine Renee Conyers.

Gilbert pleaded guilty Thursday before Spataro to a charge of third-degree homicide as part of a plea deal with the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office. It carries a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison. Gilbert had been set go on trial in county court next month for Conyers’ homicide.
