Wilkes-Barre man sentenced in strangling of elderly neighbor

Faced with an open count of criminal homicide, Czerpak pleaded guilty to third-degree murder Wednesday in exchange for other counts being dropped.

Luzerne County President Judge Richard M. Hughes III immediately sentenced Czerpak to serve 20 to 40 years in state prison. Czerpak will also be required to pay $22,227 in restitution.
