Police responded to the report of shots fired with a man down at South 15th Street and Ella Alley at 9:25 a.m. Officers arrived and found Byrd lying on the ground, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Byrd, of Maryland, was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died. His death marked Harrisburg's second homicide of 2016.
