Jessi Machell Brumley-Short stayed with her mother for two nights at her Shenango Township home in January, then left again. She was last seen wearing a white, long-sleeved terry cloth blouse, blue jeans, gray work boots and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

Short, who was 25 at the time of her disappearance, has brown hair and eyes and is about 5-foot-2. She does not drive and was not believed to have had a cell phone or credit cards with her when she disappeared.

Linda Whitesell said she last saw her daughter, Jessi Machell Brumley-Short, when she stayed with her for two nights at her Shenango Township home in January, then left again.

The 25-year-old brunette with brown eyes and short hair suffers from severe addiction to crack cocaine and heroin, and as a result has been known to engage in prostitution on the city’s South Side to support her habit, her mother said.

She also is prone to seizures from injuries she sustained from a past injury to the back of her neck and skull.

She doesn’t drive, and unless she gets rides from friends or strangers, she walks everywhere. Her mother believes she frequents the South Side and the project areas in town and has been known to stay at a motel that border’s Pulaski Township and Coitsville, Ohio.

Details of Disappearance
Short was last seen when she spent a few nights at her mother's home in Shenango Township, Pennsylvania on January 27, 2013. She has never been heard from again. She was severely addicted to drugs at the time of her disappearance and had been trying to quit for years, but always relapsed.

Prior to her disappearance, Short occasionally engaged in prostitution on the South Side and project areas of Shenango to support her drug habit. She has stayed at a motel near Pulaski Township and Coitsville, Ohio in the past. She also frequents Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and Butler County, Pennsylvania. She has warrants out for her arrest for misdemeanors.

Short doesn't drive and either walks or depends on others for rides. It's not uncharacteristic of him to drop out of sight for as long as a few weeks at a time, but she's never been gone for this long. She is missing under unclear circumstances, but due to her lifestyle she's considered to be at risk. She left behind a two-year-old son.

Since her disappearance, her mother and the police have gotten tips that Short was killed, including accounts by people who supposedly witnessed her death. Supposedly, she was with a group of seven to ten people, either at El Rio Beach or somewhere near the Neshannock Creek, and she was killed by some of the people in that group and her body thrown in the river. These stories have not been confirmed.

. Interesting, so witnesses came forward with tips but yet nothing came of it. If there was a group of 7-10 people surely someone would have talked about it. I wonder if there were searches of this area. No mentions in any article. Very little information.

She last saw her daughter when she stayed with her for two nights at her Shenango Township home. Whitesell reported her missing to the police and the district attorney two weeks later, and posters with her picture went up all over the city.

She said that she has heard from people who knew Jessi, saying how she was killed at El Rio Beach, then her body taken to Frizzleburg.

There are reports now and then from people who knew Jessi, and there are some new stories.

"It's all hearsay," Whitesell said, but she clings to every word, hoping that something will lead her to the truth and give her and her family closure.

"Both cases are cold and we're working on them," Black said. Regarding Jessi's case, "We've gone out and looked on properties in Frizzleburg where there was rumored to have been some activity involving her."

An excavation of a property there came up empty, she said, and they also have scouted farms and woods in Pulaski.
