The search for an Oil City man missing since Tuesday continued over the weekend as police scoured the area.
A state police helicopter could be seen Saturday circling the Allegheny River, which Ken Show Jr., 33, likely crossed minutes after he was last seen around 11 p.m. Tuesday on East Second Street.
and
"Unfortunately that bridge has been a trouble stop for people crossing, he said, referring to fatal accidents that have occurred on the bridge.
Show Sr. said his son - and many others in Siverly - often use the Wye Bridge as a short cut to access the nearest grocery stores, bars and the laundromat, which are all located near East Second Street.
He explained that many residents in Siverly do not own cars and rely on the shortcut, which allows them to walk "half a mile instead of three."
"This is an opportunity to fix that bridge before someone else falls, jumps or gets killed," he said.
Wenner advised against all travel on the bridge's walkway.
"It is dangerous crossing (the bridge)," he said. "It is not designed for foot traffic."
Wenner explained that the walkway was designed to allow repairs to be made on the bridge and to let workers exit a train to check on cargo.
