Six years ago today Laurie Merritt died from a fire in her home in the city’s North End.

Initially, the 51-year-old mail carrier’s death was ruled accidental. But a state police fire marshal later determined the fire in the attic of her Wyoming Street house where she was found the night of April 14, 2014 was intentionally set.

Since then, the criminal case has been open as the search continues for the cause of the fire and a conclusion to move the status beyond the pending investigation stage.
