When I was a shelter vet tech, I did some work in cat hoarders' houses. While that was not fun, I can only imagine what removing 19 cats from a home that someone had been decomposing in for "a long time" might be like. Huge props to those rescue workers and volunteers.

How terribly sad and no one thought anything was odd ??? WTH . Bless the rescuers, Rest in peace Ms Marcia, does rescue need support ? Does anyone know ? TIA just heartbreaking

One of the articles said duct tape from the outside and all the vents were duct taped. I think she died and the other person living there duct taped the room and the vents to keep the smell from coming out of the room.

Hmm ok maybe not someone actually living there but someone who had been to the house, knew she was deceased and chose to try and keep anyone else from knowing? Just my guess from the article that said the room was duct taped from the outside. I would wonder if maybe she was recieving some sort of SSI check that was cashed after she died? Speculation only!

If you watch the videos this news channel has available (I watched two), you will see more detail... there is video evidence of a window being taped from the outside. You are right, it doesn't say anywhere that the room was taped from the outside only that (sic) someone taped shut the windows and vents in room. The video also says the police are looking for the woman's son.

Very close to me. Very odd situation to say the least. Yes, they're looking for her son who had lived with her. They think she passed in April.

Thanks for the update @Richrd. It will be interesting to find out whether his story (she was deceased two months prior to being found) matches the autopsy results. This guy is going to jail for a few months worth of social security checks. Which I assume were not big checks, but I guess the definition of "big" depends on one's circumstances.
