per this article: State Police Looking For Missing Endangered 19-Year-Old Marcus Schoener

History of mental issues and self harm. Gun also missing per his parents. =(

I noticed in the article that Marcus, although he is 19 years old, is a student at Hempfield High School. There was perhaps a sighting, and police have employed heat-seeking drones and used tracking dogs without success:

". . .A neighbor was the last to see him walking in a trailer park around 7 a.m. Monday morning.

An “extensive search” by officials using heat detecting drones and tracking dogs hasn’t turned up any results. . ."

Here is another link from a reporter with WPXI on FB, that noted that the missing firearm was a ".40 caliber fire arm."

There is a ton of heavy woods around their park. Hoping the lad comes to his senses...
You sound familiar with the area? I took a look at the satellite view in google maps:

Google Maps

The red marker in the photo is pointing to the 2-block long street Wencliff Ln. in Hempfield Township, PA. It is about 1/2 mile from the point of that red marker to Hwy 30 (Lincoln Hwy). IMO, it looks like a difficult area to search. I hope he can be found quickly.

I did the same, just toured the area via Maps/Streets

Marcus is still missing, according to a post today from his mother, "JS," on her personal FB page. Search FB for "Marcus Schoener," and read post by "KB." KB links both parents in her post about Marcus being missing.

A .40 cal firearm would be heard for quite a distance, so close to the mobile home park, the water storage tank and other homes and out buildings would have been heard by someone. Yesterdays rain and wind, and last nights cold would have resulted in exposure if his clothing was not suited for the conditions. I would be walking the fire trail through the woods and any branch paths and shortcuts from locals, ATV's etc. I would also ask the local kids where Marcus and other kids hung out in the woods.

Lots of places to be, well off any beaten path, in the span of 6 days
And looking at Google Earth, I saw that it was hilly, as the region is. I found an elevation map. Within a couple hundred yards, it varies from the 1180' at the park, to under 1000' and over 1300'. Lots of ravines, cliffs, cuts. Searching will not be easy.

Individuals who are experienced in the outdoors and comfortable in that environment tend to find a quite spot, away from any other human activity. Secluded spots long waterways, streams and creeks (sound of running water is comforting), as well as along favorite hiking paths or campsites/forts/tree houses are all spots to check. I'm betting there are a number of kids that know every spot in the surrounding woods and hunters that know the extended search area like the back of their hands.

A year later, the search for missing Hempfield man continues

April 7, 2021

It’s been a year full of unanswered questions for the Schoener family of Hempfield.

Marcus Schoener was last seen April 8, 2020, along Wencliff Lane walking away from his family’s home. His parents and younger brother don’t know where he is or if he is OK.

State police, Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety and a search and rescue team from Rapid Response Services on Wednesday searched in an area near the Schoener’s home.

“We just want closure. It’s all you can say, ‘I want closure,’” Jennifer Schoener said. “I want him to come home.”

“Door’s always open for him,” his father Jon Schoener said.
