Why, why, why? Hoping she is locked up for a long time. Grrrr.
Hoping there are folks who can take care of this 15 y/o. He needs to feel safe, to eat good food, and to heal both his body, his mind, and his sense of trust . Hoping there are caring folks around him. Getting back in school may be tough for a while -- how long has he been hidden in that place with that uncaring person?

I had a friend who had this same thing happen to him in England, in the 1990s, when he was 15. His mother abandoned him in London and went to Spain to be with a guy. He said he never got over the feeling of betrayal and abandonment.

She never got in any trouble; I’m glad this mother did.

After meeting with the victim, police said the victim told them that Bogroff moved to New Jersey and returns "on occasion" but he never knows when.

The child told police that Bogroff only contacts him through Facebook Messenger and "sometimes" sends money through Cash App.

"The victim stays at the house alone and is responsible for the care of two dogs and a cat," the release said.

Yeah, the same folks who knew he was living alone and let him shower at their place? Argh…

I believe, unfortunately, this is not rare. I heard of examples from a guy-guy couple who took (mostly teen) boys in to foster. They would get abandoned at Christmastime. They were in a small rural town. One Christmas, they had 10 “sons”. The community knew about it, and pitched in with casseroles and basic human decency.

Teen boys are evidently especially prone to getting abandoned and are hard to place. I believe this couple was the go-to for DCF. They took in 30 or so over the years. They all lived on a big farm property where they could be noisy!

The setup was touching and demonstrated how lovely people can be to each other when something rotten happens. I feel really blessed to have met this couple.

Endangering Welfare of Children Warrant, January 12, 2024, 900 block of N. President Ave (MT) – Tiffani Chanel Bogroff, F/45, of Lancaster, PA, was charged with the above offense following the response to a check on welfare. It was reported that a juvenile was living alone at the home for approximately one month. An officer met with the victim. The victim reported that Bogroff moved to New Jersey about one month ago. She returns on occasion, but they never know when. The victim only communicates with her via the Messenger application. They have access to food, as Bogroff sometimes sends money via CashApp. The victim stays at the house alone and is responsible for the care of two dogs and a cat. The house has no heat, and they have a space heater in their room. The house also has no running water, and the gas has been shut off. The house is cluttered, containing trash and spoiled/rotten food. The victim stated that they sometimes attend school, but they find it difficult to wake up in the morning since they are alone. A relative reported that they periodically took the victim to the grocery store and brought them to the relative’s home to shower and wash clothes.

I believe this child will be permanently damaged-- there is no way to avoid it-- I hope he finds a loving home. I am glad she was arrested--- I can think of lots of words to describe her---but can't say them here.

I don't understand -- why were people prone to abandoning their teens over the holiday season?

A relative reported that they periodically took the victim to the grocery store and brought them to the relative’s home to shower and wash clothes.

Something is wrong with this relative's sense of parenting too, not taking him in fully nor contacting authorities if they couldn't. Is this the same person who raised "mom?" Maybe she is treating her son as she was treated, not that it's any kind of excuse! This is definitely child neglect/abuse.

That relative needs jail time as well.

From the following link,

CBS 21 reported that court records show that the boy's father and grandmother live in Lancaster and would stop by the home to give the boy food and water.

When questioned by police, the 15-year-old's grandmother, according to CBS 21, said Bogroff "abandoned" her son.

Too bad they couldn’t have taken him and the pets in altogether.

Snipped for focus

Cruises, ski vacations, new lovers, too much drink, road trips, wanting a new life towards the new year….maybe there was just more reporting, but I think not. IMO some of these boys requested the two-fella “family” when things went bad at home. IIRC the time these fellas had the 10 at Christmas, the fellas had just taken in 3 new teen boys…I know of at least one whose mom had a new lover, waved good bye, and left permanently for another state.

One of these two fellas seemed to spend all his time at parent-teacher conferences, just to keep up on all this. I couldn’t figure out why, and that’s when I asked him jokingly how many sons he had, thinking maybe he had 3 naughty ones. He had to count them on his fingers because he’d just got some new ones and hadn’t done the math….The fellas called all these teen boys their “sons”.

So, I think, getting back to our case, abandoning teen boys is not a rare thing.

um 'scuse me?! the kid is abandoned living without heat or running water and a relative "periodically" takes the teen to the store and lets them shower and wash laundry?
