From: 20 Years Later, Boy Found Dead in Philly Remains Nameless
Nearly 20 years after he was found shot to death in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, a boy remains nameless.

As we approach the October anniversary of his death, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children are asking the public to "help us give him back his name."

The organization shared a new composite sketch late last month in hopes of identifying the unknown homicide victim, who was discovered by a jogger the morning of Oct. 27, 1995.

The remains were found in the park near the Mann Music Center, according to a post on the Help ID Me Facebook page, which is run by NCMEC.

About 15-feet away from the lifeless body, police found tire tracks -- leading investigators to the possibility he was dumped in the park after being killed in another location, the post said.

The boy, who authorities said was approximately 16- to 19-years-old at the time of his death, was wearing a red T-shirt and a long-sleeved Sergio Tacchini brand sweatshirt with the words, "Railway Express" in black, green and tan across the front, black Boss label jeans, a hooded gray down jacket and black Reebok high-top sneakers, according to NCMEC.

The teen's hair was styled in cornrows and he had a well-healed scar on the back of his right forearm, NCMEC said. He was 5-feet 11-inches tall and weighed about 160 pounds, according to authorities.

The organization urges anyone with information to call 1-800-THE-LOST.

--------

He looks awfully young, a lot younger than 19, in my opinion. The news article attached makes it seem as if he is a bit younger than his age estimate. The new reconstruction in the red shirt is pretty faithful to the PM picture they have of him on NamUS, and in that reconstruction, he looks between 13 and 17 to me. It makes me wonder where his parents are. I'm sure they are wondering what happened to him, but I don't know if he was ever reported missing. I can't think of anyone matching his description off of the top of my head, but I will look through NamUS in a while and post back.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: I did a search of black males born between 1974 and 1983 on NamUS and nobody really matches the description of this John Doe, but here are some missing people whose cases I found interesting:
Bill Elliot (would have been 20 or 21):
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
I was a bit disappointed when I saw the major height discrepancy between Bill and the UID. The UID has distinct facial features, and out of all of the people who came up in my search results, Bill looks the most similar to the UID by far. Most of the others don't even come close.
Michael Judds (would have been 21 or 22):
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
Although he is a bit too old and went missing five years before the discovery of the UID, the height is right, and the location is only an hour and a half away from Philadelphia. The fact that there aren't any pictures of Michael is annoying.
Bob Austin, Jr. (would have been 19 or 20):
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Age, height, and weight are about right. Location is a problem. As for physical resemblance, the noses look a little similar, but that's about it.

  8. Leonard Johnson, Jr.
  9. Allen Briscoe

No one seems to have suggested Jerry Dolphin. He went missing 10/1/94 from new haven, Connecticut... which is about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs from Philadelphia but all of his demographics match those of this guy 20yrs old, 5,11-6, 180lbs and he fractured his arm as a child. And he had a short Afro when he was last seen.... which would be enough to have cornrowed if desired

The more interesting part is what happened around the time he went missing.... apparently jerry was thought to have witnessed or had info about a double homicide the happened in Connecticut. And was thought to have been murdered due to this. So it makes sense for him to have left Connecticut, knowing he was in danger to philly which would explain the time gap but then was shot to death... and the look similar... especially the actual autopsy photoJerry Dolphin – The Charley Project

Jerry Dolphin hasn't been ruled out in NamUs, it's the same 9 exclusions as above

Interesting. Surely it was an automatic rule-out by DNA or else someone would have checked this one.... right? Oh man, I might just have to write my very first email to NamUs - which I feel nervous about doing.

That's a good sign. Any way to see whose missing person page went down at the same time?
I looked at the MP profiles removed in the past couple of months or so, and there was none that could match. At least no publicly viewable ones.

The closest was a young black man but he went missing a couple of years after JD was found.

Love it! also, just making sure. These cases are not related, correct? Do we know the match to either of them?
