I have no clue what happened here. From briefly Googling the case, I stumbled upon a single website (forensicmag.com) dated August of last year that says that he drowned and that his body was recently exhumed along with several other people who died "unexplained deaths". The page is now defunct; when you click on the Google search result, it throws up an error. The referencing of this case as being a "cold case" also strikes me as odd. It's as if they think some sort of crime took place.
I found a video on YouTube about the case that claims that this UID was probably murdered, but I'm really reluctant to believe some of it, as most of the links to the sources used are broken or otherwise non-functional.
I also noticed that in his NCMEC reconstruction, he looks very young. He looks like he is in his late teens to me. I don't know how realistic the reconstruction is, though, considering his body was not in the best condition after being in the water for days.
Steven Anderson, a teen who disappeared from New Jersey on April 7 of the same year, is the only rule-out of which I am aware for this UID.
