Sorry for the bad formatting.

I have no clue what happened here. From briefly Googling the case, I stumbled upon a single website (forensicmag.com) dated August of last year that says that he drowned and that his body was recently exhumed along with several other people who died "unexplained deaths". The page is now defunct; when you click on the Google search result, it throws up an error. The referencing of this case as being a "cold case" also strikes me as odd. It's as if they think some sort of crime took place.
I found a video on YouTube about the case that claims that this UID was probably murdered, but I'm really reluctant to believe some of it, as most of the links to the sources used are broken or otherwise non-functional.

I also noticed that in his NCMEC reconstruction, he looks very young. He looks like he is in his late teens to me. I don't know how realistic the reconstruction is, though, considering his body was not in the best condition after being in the water for days.

Steven Anderson, a teen who disappeared from New Jersey on April 7 of the same year, is the only rule-out of which I am aware for this UID.

Bumping.

I wish we had a better idea of the manner/cause of death for this UID.

Recon of both the UID and his jacket.

This unidentified teen is currently being discussed on this thread:

AN has recently been added to NamUs.
What do followers of this thread think; could they be a match?
(Credit to @Aurora90 for first mentioning the possibility.)

The location given in NAMUS is not correct, it points to Philadelphia City Hall. Here is the correct location where the UID was found:
Google Maps
It says he was found in Frankford creek, and Andrew was last seen in the Frankford area if I am recalling correctly.

I have reached out to the detective assigned to Andrew's case and I have been told to expect a call back sometime soon regarding this possible match.

Fingers crossed!

Andrew Nedby is certainly a potential match for the Philadelphia John Doe.

I hope Andrew's family can get answers very soon.

Additional information from the NamUs profile:

Isotope testing shows this individual was likely born & spent first few years of life in Pennsylvania or the surrounding states, including southern part of New England. It is possible he spend significant time in the SE USA, even as far south as FL, prior to death in PA. The oxygen isotope value in bone sample, indicates the decedent likely resided in a different place than his birthplace/early childhood years prior to death.

Age-at-Death Estimate from dental development and epophyseal fusion is 12-20 years old, likely in the 12-16 year range

I wonder if anyone can find a birth certificate for Andrew Nedby?

Isotype testing has also been wrong at times...

In Andrew Nedby's thread @RememberingRyan made a recon with "sandy hair" as opposed to brown. I have attached that photo.
The recon appears to have almost black hair, but the description says brown. Andrew's photo looks blonde, but the description says sandy. I think there is room for both aging resulting in darker hair from the time when his photo was taken and for interpretation error in the recon. Here is the recon with lighter hair and Andrew's photo oriented to be in a position more similar to the recon:

Furthermore, many folks over time are born with blonde and it changes to brown over time.

@Caring1 Hey could you post the current list of NamUs exclusions for this John Doe? I would greatly appreciate it.

Writing this in both threads.

Update: Andrew Nedby has been identified as the John Doe in the thread. I received confirmation from his sister and she has asked that I update everyone. His namus and that of the john doe will likely be removed shortly.

Yesterday Detective Gordon, Ryan Gallagher, my sisters and I had a zoom call and they confirmed that the Philadelphia Doe found on April 12, 1975 is my brother Andrew Nedby. The cause of death is drowning, and there is no evidence of foul play. Andy had epilepsy, and I have to wonder if he had a seizure (he used to have grand mal seizures) and fell and hit his head on the rocks. The area where he was found is actually the end point of the Frankford creek (or crick as we say in Philly) and there are many places that he could have fallen in, slipped on rocks, something like that, and it took him down the path. Our home at that time was on Church street in Frankford, and if you look at the map you'll see that where the body was found was not very far from our house. BUT, the original police reports and ME report has the body listed as an adult male.

I'm going to write more and tell you more of the story if you have questions; I don't mind at all. And the community has been so lovely in thoughts and prayers and well wishes. Will you please share with everyone the good news?

Mods, can you please verify @katrinalynn19 so that we may discuss Andrew Nedby freely?

Dear Andrew, please rest in peace. May this bring about peace and closure for the Nedby family.
