Police Trying to ID Remains Found in Luzerne County

"PITTSTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police say human remains were discovered off Pittston Township Boulevard in Luzerne County on Monday.

[...]

Investigators say those remains had likely been there for a while. Officials have not confirmed who the victim is or how they died.

The remains were deteriorating and the death didn’t appear to be recent, police say."

Still very recent discovery, and of course not much information since this discovery occurred only yesterday.

Based on the limited information we have, this is my best estimate of where the remains were found:

older MP's out of Luzerne County/ Lackawanna County, with approximate drive times...
Travis Fanning, DLC: Nov 15, 2018. 41 min drive away.
Rashan A Francis, DLC: Nov 6, 2018. 15 mins away.
Angela Miller, DLC: April 27, 2018. 15 mins away.
Yiear West, DLC: Dec 6, 2016. 17 min drive away.
Amy Okane, DLC: Feb 11, 2015. 18 mins away. Crime connected opioid user.
Robert Baron, DLC: Jan 27, 2015. 10 mins away. Foul play is suspected (blood found in his restaurant) but he was physically very close.

Thanks Bombardier! I actually thought of Robert Baron first when I saw this discovery, since his case is one of the highest-profile W-B area cases I've seen in recent times. His restaurant is quite close to the scene, and they found blood and I believe a tooth there, so it's pretty likely he met with foul play, unfortunately. If I recall correctly, one of the leading theories in his case involved some sort of local Mafia involvement, if that helps any.

The article appears updated and now has this nugget of info.

"Pittston Township police and state police were called to a wooded area near the Pittston Bypass around 2 p.m. Monday. They found human remains somewhere behind the former Kmart building." bbm

I couldn't find any official confirmation, but there is an interesting comment by a person with the initials JJ under this article: Log into Facebook
