ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A 24-year-old woman, who spent a considerable amount of time interacting and posting on social media platforms, hasn’t been seen or heard from in exactly seven months.

Ri’kiah Griffie vanished from Aliquippa on Oct. 11, 2022. Her mother reported her missing ten days later when she hadn’t heard from her.

As Rick Earle learned, Investigators suspect she may be the victim of foul play.

Remains found in an abandoned home that has been vacant for years. This is near where Ri’kiah went missing. There is no confirmation yet. DNA testing is required for proof of identity.

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. (KDKA) -- Human remains were found in Aliquippa on Thursday.

The Aliquippa Police Department's station is just down the street from where the remains were found. In between is an apartment building where a woman who went missing about 2 years ago lived.

The friends and family of Ri'Kiah Griffie hope this discovery will bring them closure.

This is very local and I drive past that old building all the time. The main street through town is Franklin Avenue, and Sheffield is the side street to take if you want to avoid traffic lights. At the end of the video @imstilla.grandma posted, the reporter is standing outside the rear of the Towne Tower Apartments, with its blue awnings. If you travel on Google Street View down Sheffield, you can see how close the abandoned building was to the apartment tower, a short walk away. The building's doors are almost all open or missing entirely, not unusual. Aliquippa is in the process of tearing down abandoned buildings to add more green spaces and you can see a few along Sheffield.

The abandoned building is also a quick walk from not only the aforementioned police station, but the district justice office that has parking off Sheffield Avenue.

If this is Ri'kiah who has been found, may she Rest in Peace.

After Griffie was found, family and friends gathered to remember her.

"Whenever she went, her light shined brighter than anything. She touched so many people," said cousin Avonni Griffie.

Neighbors told KDKA-TV that the buildings in the area where Griffie's body was found have been vacant for years. Griffie's mom Ronda Duke said she dropped her daughter off at her boyfriend's on Oct. 7, 2022, and never saw her again.

"I'm happy my baby is home safe with me and the good Lord," Duke said last week. "Now, justice will prevail
