LPD is currently investigating the report of a missing adult male who resides in Lewistown Borough. Richard Bonsell, 28 YOA, White Male, approx. 5'11", 215 lbs., curly/wavy Brown Hair, and Brown Eyes. Richard told friends he was going fishing on Friday (04/17) morning. He was last heard from Friday afternoon around 2 P.M. when he stated he was still fishing. He usually fishes along the Juniata River but his last location was unknown. He was reported to have a fishing rod with him and he was riding his bicycle (red and black mountain bike). He was thought to be wearing his camouflage hunting boots but other clothing was unknown. Bonsell is originally from Blair County. Evidence suggests he may have been there Friday afternoon but returned to Mifflin County on Saturday. He has not made contact with friends or family. He has been entered into the National Missing Persons Database. Anyone with information is asked to contact LPD at (717)248-6716 or the Mifflin County Non-Emergency number (717)248-9607. When I read this post, it appeared to be a straight-forward missing-while-fishing story. But then I read the statement that he may have been in Blair County on Friday afternoon, but he returned to Mifflin County on Saturday! I'm not sure what happened to Richard. He was riding his bicycle--and these two counties are not adjacent (I highlighted the two counties on this Wikipedia map):

SWAT used a gas bomb and were able to apprehend the man, who they described being in his mid to late twenties.

The suspect from Wednesday's incident involving shots fired near a Ponte Vedra Publix has been identified by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say, Richard Arthur Bonsell, 28, of Pennsylvania remains in the ICU in critical condition following the incident.

SJSO says Bonsell was taken to the hospital after he opened fire on deputies who were trying to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Pennsylvania.

I did not expect the missing case to have that ending--in Florida! Here is another article:

"ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — April 23 UPDATE: The suspect in the deputy-involved shooting in Ponte Vedra Wednesday has been identified as Richard Bonsell, 28, of Lewsitown, Pennsylvania, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said. . . "

So it appears that Richard was on a bicycle going fishing 2 counties away, returned to Mifflin County the next day, then stole a vehicle, drove to Florida, and tried to shoot at deputies conducting a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle. Very strange.

He's had DUI's, probably why he was on a bike as well as arrests in PA for firearm charges, fleeing an officer, theft and receiving stolen property. (note, in the docket records there are also charges for a Richard B. Bosnell -given the middle initial and the arrest date the 90's it is NOT this Richard Bosnell - as his dockets list Arthur as the middle name). Common Pleas Docket Sheet
